Usagi: Guess who I saw Minako with?!
Chibi-usa: An older guy right?
Usagi: Yeah, how did you know?
Chibi-usa: I saw him. Kinda cute with a motorcycle and a bad boy look.
Usagi: What are you talking about? He was very down-to-earth looking and-
Both: Wait! That's not the same guy!
Usagi: She's two-timing! Come on Minako!
Both: That's just wrong!

(CWi Episode: "Double Trouble")

The Goddess of Love and Beauty takes her friends by storm with the reveal of her stringing along two handsome saps to determine which one will be her one true boyfriend. Though fate is a cruel mistress as the two dopes are actually Tiger's and Hawk's Eye who are competing with each other to see which one their blonde victim will choose.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • Bait-and-Switch Comment: Seeing that her brother cat is upset over her whole situation, Minako sincerely tells him that he has nothing to worry about. Because she's going to come out on top with her two-timing scam.
  • Bathos: Hawk's Eye monologues to himself how Minako is falling for him as he's holding her hands in the theater. He does this without realizing that Minako has him holding on to an older lady while she ditches him for Veronica.
  • The Bet: The two predators make a bet to see which of them will succeed in conquering Minako's heart. Loser has to leave forever.
  • Betty and Veronica: A gender-flipped example. Hawk's Eye masquerades as Betty, a sensible artist while Tiger's Eye pretends to be a bad boy who wants to be a rock star.
  • Big "NO!": Hawk's Eye screams this in the theater after he sees that his date turned into a sweet old lady.
  • Call-Back: Sailor Venus uses "Crescent Beam Shower OF ANGER" to decimate Tiger, Hawk and their Lemures.
  • Children Are Innocent: Diana openly asks Usagi what does "two-timing" mean. Her father forbids her from learning such shameful knowledge.
  • Collective Groan: The Inner girls do this after Minako declares that her being too beautiful is a sin of it's own right.
  • Combat Parkour: The Acrobat Lemure Duo are able to knock out the Sailor Guardians using a see-saw and combat coordination.
  • Date Peepers: The girls, the cats and the pink one decide to spy on Minako as she juggles her two dates.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Just like the past episodes, Minako being attacked for her Dream Mirror serves as a parallel for sexual assault. But as a twist, Minako breaks free from her restraints in righteous anger and overpowers the Amazon Predators. In here, Minako represents women who were sexually assaulted but mustered the will to power through their trauma and seek retribution against their assailant(s).
  • Foreshadowing: Rei comments that Minako can be incredibly powerful when she's in a tight situation. She shows that willpower in the climax of the episode.
  • Friendship Moment:
    • Having seen enough of the Love Guardian running herself tired from her two dates, the gang shows up and insist that she stop the madness and be honest with the two dopes.
    • And in the end, Artemis comforts Minako by pointing out that every relationship, both good and bad, is still valuable experience and will guide her to finding her one true love.
  • Gaslighting: Minako tries to trick the Pink Predator into believing that he was always by his side during the monster movie.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Played for Laughs. Both Rei and Makoto are annoyed to learn that Minako snagged a boyfriend before either of them.
  • Growing Up Sucks: While talking with Pegasus about how it's possible for adults to love more than one person at the same time, Chibi-usa concludes that being a grown up is really hard.
  • Heroic Willpower: Infuriated over the two predators ruining her two-timing plan and toying with her heart, Minako manages to break free from her shackles and reclaim her Dream Mirror.
  • History Repeats: Just like the last time she was targeted, Minako summons tremendous willpower to overcome her vulnerable state, transforms and saves everyone from the villains' clutches.
  • Hypocritical Humor: Minako is appalled when her two dates turn out to be the Amazon Predators in disguise.
Minako: It can't be... You tricked me. The whole time... you weren't being honest!
Both: Oh come on! Look who's talking!
  • I Was Just Joking: Fish Eye meekly defends himself with this when his drinking buddies glare at him after he brings up the bet they made.
  • Malaproper:
    • As the Goddess of Love would proclaim: "There's nothing like eating your cake and still having it!"
    • And when she gains the resolve to be honest with her dates: "Two birds in the bush, is still better then no bird!"
  • A Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Read: Compared to the other victims who had pleasant and appropriate dreams, Tiger and Hawk are noticeably disturbed after breaching Minako's privacy to look at dreams.
  • Oh, Crap!: To Minako's dismay, she scheduled her date with Betty on the same day and time as Veronica.
  • Public Exposure: Minako eagerly shares that the artist wants her to do a nude painting for him.
  • Rhyming Title: "Double Trouble".
  • Shout-Out: Usagi wanted to take Mamo-chan to see a Godzilla movie.
  • Take a Third Option: When she's backed into a corner and has to choose between the cultured artist Betty and the hog-riding Veronica, Minako decides that she likes both of them! Too bad neither is interested in polyamory...
  • Two-Timer Date: The them of the episode involves Minako falling for two guys and scheduling dates with them on the same day.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: Artemis says this after he sees how Minako plans to go through with her two-timing date.
