After eating every spaghetti factory in the Mushroom Kingdom into bankruptcy, Mario goes coo-coo crazy as he tries to find a way to grow more spaghetti from the last pile of the stuff.
Tropes:
- Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Mario ends up creating a giant Flying Spaghetti Monster after dosing his remaining spaghetti with magic stuff.
- Then, a giant cupcake monster appears after the same magic stuff is spilled on Frankie's cupcake.
- Big Damn Heroes: Toadsworth appears to crowbar Mario right before he can attack Luigi.
- Big Eater: Mario eats his entire supply of spaghetti, which was supposed to last ten years, within a week. Later on, he ends up eating the entire Flying Spaghetti Monster after Luigi gives him a star.
- Chekhov's Gun: The spaghetti Mario tries to grow near the beginning comes into play later when he pours magic stuff from E. Gadd's lab onto it, causing it to turn into a giant monster.
- Didn't Think This Through: Luigi's ultimate plan to get to Mario is to use a cannon to launch himself up onto the spaghetti monster. He belatedly realizes how terrible his plan is while he's in the cannon, right before it fires.
- Gone Horribly Right: How does Toadsworth convince Mario not to eat him? He says he's made of vegetables. Toadsworth is spared from being eaten, but not before getting knocked to the sky.
- Meat-O-Vision: Mario's insanity due to lack of spaghetti causes him to see everyone as plates of spaghetti.
- Parody Religion: Toadsworth ends up worshipping the Flying Spaghetti Monster while X worships the Flying Cupcake Monster. The former actually exists.
- Sanity Slippage: Mario ends up going crazy after the spaghetti factories close.
