Recap / SMG 4 The Infestation

Go To

AAAA THE RATS ARE COMING 🐀🐀🐀🐀🐀

SMG4, Bob and Boopkins are cooking peacefully, when rats suddenly infest the castle, and not even pest control can stop them. Worse, SMG3 has sealed them off from the outside to keep them from interrupting the construction of 3’s Coffee and Bombs. SMG4 refuses to let Bob hurt them, and even manages to befriend a seemingly cute one, but when it turns out to be a trap, Bob must put his skills to use and save the day.

  • Berserk Button: Bob HATES rats, all due to an incident 5,000 years ago, where a swarm attacked him when he was just minding his own business.
  • Big Bad: Depresso is the master of the rats that infest SMG4's castle, and he wants to use them to Take Over the World as payback for all the abuse he endured.
  • Blood Knight: Bob's biggest Berserk Button is rats, so he naturally wants them all gone by any means necessary. SMG4 refuses to let him kill them at first, and even befriends one. Once it turns out the rats were Evil All Along and Crisp Rat and his son mind-control him and Boopkins, Bob decides enough is enough and heads off to rescue them in his own style, firing away at all the rats:
Bob: (after recovering from being knocked out, he huffs a cigarette in Tranquil Fury) Bloody rats! (He turns his right sword hand into a minigun and storms outside) We're doing things my way!
  • Continuity Nod: Bob's Flashback to the "Dark Ages" 5,000 years in the past shows him in his original design as a Garo Robe from The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, and shows him in the same sewers where Mario and Luigi found him in his debut episode.
  • Crossover: This episode features Crisp Rat and Crisp Jr. from the StinkyBlueRat channel as special guest stars.
  • Irony: Crisp Rat and Crisp Jr. are hand puppets who used SMG4 and Fishy Boopkins respectively as puppets.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: While Bob's way of dealing with the rats do seem rather extreme, it does turn out that the rats are indeed dangerous to the point where violence was necessary to a degree.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: SMG3 puts the SMG4 Castle under lockdown to prevent the rats from getting out and makes everyone still inside deal with the problem. When everyone manages to lure the rats out of the castle, SMG3's construction site is the first place they arrive at.
  • Medium Blending: Crisp Rat and Crisp Jr. are portrayed as live action hand puppets just like on their home channel.
  • People Puppets: While SMG4 is defending a seemingly innocent Crisp Rat Jr., Bob knocks off SMG4's hat, revealing that he was being controlled by Crisp Rat à la Ratatouille. SMG4's face goes blank the moment is revealed, and Crisp Rat Jr. soon does the same thing to Boopkins.
  • Pest Episode: The basis of this episode: a swarm of rats (later revealed to be lead by Depresso) have invaded the castle, and while SMG4 and Boopkins are willing to flee from them, Bob wants their heads on a silver platter.
  • The Reveal: While it was previously unseen, the episode finally shows what the castle basement looks like, revealing it to be a large cave.
  • Swarm of Rats: The antagonists of the Pest Episode, with a special appearance from Stinky Blue Rat as Crispy Rat and his son, Crisp Jr..
  • Took a Level in Badass: Bob is usually portrayed as a Dirty Coward, here he's a full blown Blood Knight and the only one who stands up to the rats.
