Famous Babies

The babies start their own band.

"A Dose of Dil" provides examples of:

  • Big Brother Instinct: When Dil becomes cranky from having to get a booster shot, Tommy's first instinct is to try to cheer him up. Near the end of the episode, Dil hangs onto Spike's tail so Spike can pull his walker towards Tommy to cheer him up. When Tommy sees Dil is about to fall over, he rushes over to save him.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: All Tommy wants is some attention from Stu and Didi, who keep giving it to his friends and his cousin. Near the end of the episode, Dil is about to fall over, but Tommy rescues him and receives praise from his parents.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Throughout the episode, Angelica pretends to be hurt or sick to get attention. In the end, her lies work against her, as Didi and Stu believe she really is sick and take her inside to take her temperature.
  • Noodle Incident: When Chuckie throws up after watching Dil swing back and forth on his baby swing, Stu tells Didi that the same thing happened to Chas at the roulette wheel during a charity casino night.
  • Potty Emergency: At the end of the episode, Chuckie has one as the result of drinking too much ginger ale.
  • The Unfavorite: In this episode, Tommy starts to feel like this when Stu and Didi are too busy tending to his friends and Dil more than him. Angelica tries to teach him how to cry and fake injuries to get attention, but Tommy doesn't feel comfortable doing it. Subverted in that Stu and Didi are harried with having to deal with the other babies, but are relieved that Tommy isn't hurt or sick.
  • Wounded Gazelle Gambit: Angelica pretends to be hurt and sick to get attention from Stu and Didi, and tries to teach Tommy to do the same.

"Famous Babies" provides examples of:

  • Accidental Dance Craze: When Angelica pours sand down Chuckie's pants, Chuckie wiggles around. The other babies on the playground interpret it as a dance, making him famous for it.
  • Band Episode: In this episode, the babies decide to form their own band after listening to Didi and Betty play music from their favorite band on casette tapes. Tommy plays with a toy guitar, Lil plays with a jack-in the box, Phil plays with a bucket and shovel, Dil plays with his rattle, and Chuckie is left with an empty toilet paper roll, which Tommy suggests he sing into like a microphone. When Angelica overhears the babies playing, she decides to be their band manager. The babies become popular when Angelica pours sand down Chuckie's pants, but when they all decide they want to sing their own songs, they all do so at the same time, annoying the children and causing them to leave.
  • It's All About Me: At the end of the episode, when the babies decide they don't want to be a band anymore, Angelica decides to sing about herself, saying she can be famous without the babies.
  • Malaproper:
    • The babies mispronounce "instrument" as "interment".
    • Angelica mispronounces "audience" as "applaudience".
  • Performance Anxiety: Chuckie gets this after Angelica announces the babies' band to the playground.
  • Squirrels in My Pants: To liven up the babies' band, Angelica pours sand down Chuckie's pants. At one point, Chuckie supplements this with actual lyrics.
Chuckie: This is not a dance! I got sand in my pants!
  • Stock "Yuck!": When Angelica charges the children on the playground cookies to see the babies perform on the jungle gym, she tells them "No yucky granola bars like last time".
  • True Companions: When the babies realize that their creative differences have driven the other children away, they decide not to be a band anymore so they can remain friends.
