Recap / Rugrats 2021 S 1 E 13 The Werewoof Hunter

Go To

The fourteenth episode of the first season of Rugrats (2021).

Tommy enlists the help of his friends to save Angelica after she turns into a werewolf at a Halloween party at Mucklehoney Manor, hosted by Count Mucklehoney. There, the parents seem to be disappearing one by one.

This episode provides examples of:

  • All Just a Dream: In keeping with this show's slice-of-life theme, this episode's events are revealed to be a dream that Tommy was having during a Halloween party his parents were throwing.
  • Alternate Identity Amnesia: When Angelica's cured near the end of this episode, she has little to no recollections of her actions as a wolf and instead is upset that her dress is ruined.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: when the babies manage to escape from a room filled with tarantulas, Chuckie suggests that they go back to their parents before they get eaten by a wolf, a million spiders, or creepy dolls who want to be their friends.
  • Chekhov's Gag: Phil stuffs some fireflies into his diaper for the purpose of making his butt light up. Near the end of the episode, he uses them to distract Angelica so that Tommy can apply a bandage to her wound.
  • Halloween Episode: In this episode, Stu invites his family and friends to Count Mucklehoney's legendary Halloween ball. On their way to Mucklehoney Manor, Angelica tricks the babies out of their candy by telling them that on Halloween, monsters come out to try to bite babies and turn them into monsters, but she's immune because she's older than them. However, she gets a bite mark on her arm, and when the full moon comes out, she becomes a werewolf, and the babies have to cure her.
  • Mythology Gag:
  • Nose Nuggets: Stu's invention in this episode is the Snot Rocket, a rocket that sucks the snot out of one's nose and launches it away.
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: The episode has the standard horror movie idea of werewolves being people turning into feral humanoid wolves due to a bite, but with the kid-friendly twist that the curse can be lifted just by putting a band-aid on the wound.
  • Shout-Out: When Susie is about to shoot fake mustard at Angelica (courtesy of Chuckie's mustard bottle costume), she shouts "Get away from him, you werewoof!"
  • Skewed Priorities: As Angelica transforms into a werewolf, she's more annoyed that the transformation is ruining her costume.
Angelica: Hey! What's the big idea?! That's my brand-new princess dress! Why's my arm all furry?! (groans) And my teeth all pointy?! Whatever's happening to me...better...stop right now! Or...I'll...I'll...! (howls)
  • Spiders Are Scary: The babies come across Spike, who is trapped in a spider web. The room where Spike is trapped is filled with spiders.
  • The End... Or Is It?: Angelica gets cured and everyone but her (being more concerned about her ruined costume) rejoices, but a distant howl implies the wolf who bit her is still out there... Subverted with the revelation that it was All Just a Dream signifying that yes, it is the end.
