Tropes

  • Aborted Arc: Carrie's Odd Friendship with Ryan is completely dropped here, with neither character interacting for the entire episode.
  • Aborted Declaration of Love: Devin attempts to reveal his feelings towards Carrie, but changes it to say he loves utensils instead.
  • Bait-and-Switch: When it looks like the collision between MacArthur and the bull ended badly for her, it turns out that it was the bull that hurt instead.
  • Buffy Speak: A heat-induced delirious Josee has this to say when the Police Cadets refuse to help her and Jacques sabotage the Sisters.
Josee: Well, fine! This round is every team for itself! Which means, in case you didn't figure it out, that you two are in our cross-target... thingies... a bullseye on the... we're coming for you two, now get ready!
  • Butt-Monkey: Devin, who keeps trying to tell Carrie about his feelings for him, gets hurt everytime it happens.
  • Cool Train: If somewhat small.
  • Cheaters Never Prosper: The Ice Dancers suffer a one-hour penalty after cheating so blatantly even Don couldn't ignore it: decoupling the rest of the train.
  • Cluster F-Bomb: Emma (apparently) delivers one to Devin while on top of the train, though its censored by the train's horn.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Stephanie and Ryan fully reconcile, just as they've been eliminated.
  • Failed a Spot Check:
    • Don chastises the Ice Dancers for thinking that no one would notice they decoupled the rest of the train. Naturally, they completely miss this was why they got penalized.
    • It takes Stephanie and Ryan quite awhile to realize that their section of the train isn't moving.
  • Groin Attack: Devin fears he'll get kicked in the "kiwis" if he tells Carrie his feelings for her. Later on in the episode, he attempts to tell her again... only to get headbutted in the "kiwis" by a goat.
    Carrie: (worried) Are you okay?
    Devin: (in pain) Never better.
  • Here We Go Again!: Don expresses doubt that the Daters' relationship will actually last longer than the past few times.
Don: Oh, yeah. That's gonna last.
  • Hope Spot: The newly rechristened Daters almost make it, but they stop to be romantic rather than cross the finish line, thus sparing the Ice Dancers from elimination.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Just as Josee starts to boast about how her and Jacques's penalty for unhooking the train cars won't matter since the other teams are miles away, Emma and Kitty arrive at the Chill Zone and take first place.
  • In-Universe Factoid Failure: MacArthur claims to know an ox mating call, despite oxen nearly always being gelded to keep their sexual drives from intervening with their work.
  • Just Train Wrong: The Darjeeling Railway hasn't pulled freight cars of any kind since the 1960's.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: During the tea leaf challenge, the Ice Dancers sabotage the Sisters by emptying out their baskets. Due to the Ice Dancers's penalty, the Sisters come in first place, the very spot the Ice Dancers crave.
  • Never My Fault: Josee doesn't seem to think she's at fault for cheating.
Josee: What does Don have against us? Are we too talented, too attractive, too all-of-the-above?
  • Oh, Crap!: The Daters when they realise their carriage isn't moving.
  • Pun-Based Title: The title is a play on the phrase "deal with it".
  • Series Continuity Error: In the first episode it was said that Ryan & Stephanie met each other two months and six days prior to the series. Here, dialogue from Ryan says that they've known each other for at least a year.
  • Too Much Information: How Sanders reacts to MacArthur telling her about her sweaty armpits.
  • We Win, Because You Didn't: Even though they only get second, MacArthur admits that beating the Ice Dancers is better then getting first place.
