Recap / Regular Show S 04 Ep 36 Party Re Pete

Go To

Benson is kidnapped by an underground party entertainment company who models him to be the next Party Pete.

Party Re-Pete provides examples of...

  • Bowdlerization: Much like the UK version of "Party Pete," this episode edited the short scene of Party Benson thrusting his crotch, but instead of using alternate footage, they paused the shot of Party Benson's groin and just let the audio play as normal, making the scene more risqué than what was cut.
  • Call-Back: Like how Mordecai and Rigby dealt with the previous Party Pete clone, Benson defeats the current Party Pete clone by hosing him down with soda and causing him to explode.
  • Disco Sucks: Tommy tells Party Zoe "Disco is dead!" before blasting her with a rocket launcher.
  • Interchangeable Asian Cultures: One of the Party Starters suits calls sushi "Chinese food" which in fact it is a Japanese food. Then again, it's probably to show how ignorant they are of other people.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Done twice with Benson:
    • The plot of the episode kicks off because Benson finally works up the courage to ask Audrey out on a date and she said yes. He's so happy that he throws a party at the park and becomes the life of it, dancing and cutting loose like he never had before (earning respect from his employees and, unfortunately, the attention of the Party Starters).
    • When they go to Benson's (trashed) apartment to look for him, Rigby finds a paper party noise maker. He and Mordecai remember a time when they were playing with party noise makers and Benson told them angrily how much he hates them. He goes as far as to say that, should they ever find one in his home, it was probably because he was kidnapped. This, of course, is exactly what happened.
  • Police Are Useless: Averted. The police arrive right on time to arrest the Party Starters suits.
Policeman: We came when we saw the explosion.
Rigby: You guys got here fast!
Policeman: Of course we did. We're the police!
  • The Reveal: The Party Pete in "Party Pete" was a clone and the real Party Pete was kidnapped and cloned by Party Starters.
  • Saying Too Much: One of the Party Starters suits suggest the Park crew to go back to the Park. However, since the suits are strangers they shouldn't know where they live, thus causing the crew to be more suspicious about Party Starters's involvement in Benson's disappearance.
  • Sequel Episode: To "Party Pete".
  • Stating the Simple Solution: When trying to figure out how to get Benson back, Rigby reminds them that they should just call the Party Starters like they were told to.
  • We Will Meet Again: Swear by one of the Party Starters suits as they are being arrested.
"We'll get you for this, Benson brah!"
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: It's never explained why Benson's house was trashed, or how the party noise maker ended up there.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: The Party Starters suits are fine with killing Party Zoe and Party Robert since nobody has ordered them in years due to their long outdated styles (disco and the eighties respectively) unlike the more modern bestsellers Benson and Party Pete.
