The park workers try to figure out why Muscle Man keeps pummeling them in his sleep.

Tropes that apply to Sleep Fighter:

  • And Call Him "George": The Huggstables vaporize their victims and turn them into multicoloured sparkles just by hugging them.
  • And You Were There: Parodied.
Muscle Man: I had the weirdest dream. You were in it [Hi-Five Ghost], and you were in it [Benson]. You weren't, Thomas.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Hi-Five Ghost tells everyone that he saw something on the surveillance tape and that the others should see it. Cut to the computer room, and the guys are watching a video of an ostrich kicking a bowling ball between a guy's legs and then kicking said guy between the legs. After the park crew shares a good laugh, Fives rewinds the tape to reveal some strange shapes in the static.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Early on, Benson notices a ramp that he told Mordecai and Rigby to clean up. Later on, Skips uses it to launch his van into the air and catch the Giant Huggstable.
  • Continuity Nod: The episode starts with Mordecai dreaming about getting more coffee from Margaret and Rigby dreaming about being the Pizza King.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Skips keeps a bag full of dreamcatcher-based weapons with him. Lampshaded by Rigby, who asks why the former has them. Skips' response:
Skips: Hey, when you're as old as me, you have some pretty crazy dreams.
  • Gilligan Cut: Benson says that Muscle Man's sleep-fighting is not a park problem because it doesn't have anything to do with him. Cue Muscle Man breaking into Benson's apartment and beating up Benson in his sleep that night.
Benson: Okay, this is a park problem.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Muscle Man mentions watching "eight seasons, two hundred and fifty-seven episodes back-to-back" of the Huggstables. Regular Show eventually ended after eight seasons and 245 episodes, which is pretty close to Muscle Man's comment.
  • Noodle Incident:
    • Sometime before this episode, Skips gave Pops a dream catcher to use when he was having nightmares about talking dogs.
    • Also, Skips says he's had some "pretty crazy" dreams during his immortal life.
  • Oh, Crap!:
    • Muscle Man's reaction to seeing a Huggstable in his dreams.
    • Also, Skips' reaction after his dreamcatcher rips from trying to take in all the Huggstables at once.
      Skips: Uh-oh...
  • Skewed Priorities: When the park crew is arguing with Muscle Man about the first night of his sleep fighting, Pops is more concerned about how the former had smashed his model train set.
  • Take That!: The Huggstables appear to be this to pre-school shows like Teletubbies and their uncanniness.
  • Troubled Fetal Position: Not seen, but mentioned by Muscle Man when he explained that he was traumatized by a kid's TV show whilst babysitting Starla’s niece.
  • What Do You Mean, It's for Kids?: In-Universe. The Huggstables is a show where kids are supposed to enjoy the titular creatures make people explode by hugging them. One innocent man even asks "Help me!" before he explodes.
