With a decent starting batch of animals already rescued for the park, Leon and Drew travel back to the past to rescue the giant orthocone Cameroceras. At the same time, head vet Linda and head researcher Khatin find themselves working to figure out how best to handle the seemingly rather lonely and depressed anomalocaris Squishy.
- Badass Decay: Deliberately invoked with Squishy, who is shown to have been greatly affected by his devastating defeat in the previous chapter.
- Crazy Enough to Work: Despite a hair raising few minutes after she's first placed in the same tank as Squishy, Khatin's idea of letting the female anomalocaris around the same age as Squishy join him in his tank ends up proving just the right thing to do!
- Godzilla Threshold: See Crazy Enough to Work above.
- Let Us Never Speak of This Again: After a particularly embarrassing ordeal over the course of his and Drew's work at getting the entire megolograptus swarm out of their prehistoric campsite and into the park, Leon makes a point to insist that Drew not let Yolanda be made aware of said incident.
- Oh, Crap!: Leon and Drew's reaction to finding out that, apparently the megolograptus can climb...and have ended up invading their campsite as a result!
- Scary Scorpions: While technically averted, the megolograptus are given some rather sinister descriptions.
- The Swarm: An incredibly large number of megolograptus swarm Leon and Drew's camp while they're absent...to the point that the entire camp is almost completely covered with them by the time Leon and Drew return!
- Tentacled Terror: A large group of cameroceras encountered, and subsequently rescued, by Drew and Leon put them through quite the ordeal in their efforts at getting them to the park.
- You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: To quote Leon's words at the very end of the chapter after finding out the target for the next planned mission:Leon: ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
