Fairy Tail City Hero is a spin off of the Hiro Mashima manga Fairy Tail, drawn and written by Ushio Ando.
This version takes place in an Alternate Universe in which Magnolia is now a modern city and Fairy Tail are a police force, doing their best to bust crimes. Basically a much sillier take on the main manga; just replace "Job requests" with "cases files".
Lasted from 2018-2019 with 45 chapters.
Tropes
- Alternate Universe: This manga version takes place in a modern day city and Fairy Tail guild is a police force with various other characters having different jobs and functions.
- Dating Catwoman: Erza is a "friend" of Jellal, unaware he's a thief that's she's been chasing.
- Demoted to Extra: By virtue of Wendy being too young to be in the police force, she's instead in Lamia Scale (the local high school in this version), and her role in the story (and that of Carla by extension) is accordingly lessened.
- Denser and Wackier: While likewise having its fair share of action, this version doesn't take itself at all seriously and the cases never get too dark.
- Gentleman Thief: Jellal and Crime Sorcerie in this incarnation act this part, being thieves who target more unrepentant thieves and criminals and steal from them to return their goods back to their rightful owners.
- Magical Girl: Wendy and Sherria serve as one as part of a special division group.
- Spin-Off: One of several for the main Fairy Tail series.
- Urban Fantasy: Despite the city setting, magic is still common commodity.
