Recap / Power Rangers Zeo S1E48 Rangers Of Two Worlds Part 2

Go To

As the two monsters from Rita and Mondo steal the Megazords, and Billy’s aging gets worse, the Rangers will require help from Aquitar to solve their problem.

Tropes

  • Anticlimax Boss: Zig-Zagged. Somehow Rita and Zedd's Impursonator and the Machine Empires' Cog-Changer merging made them weak enough for the Rangers to defeat them, when they were easily able to individually defeat the Rangers. On the other hand, it takes a combined attack by two Megazords, the Red Battlezord, and the Warrior Wheel to permanently destroy them, so the Rangers actually had to pull out all the stops.
  • Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: The last appearance of Auric the Conqueror. Unlike with Ninjor, the show doesn't even attempt to explain where he went.
    • Why didn't the Alien Rangers call any zords? The Battle Borgs might be back on Aquitar, but they should still have access to the Shogun Megazord, as it was never destroyed. This is never explained. Real life reason, they didn't summon it in Ohranger vs Kakuranger either.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: Continuing from Part 1, Rita's Impursonator monster defeats all of the Zeo Rangers' zords, including the Ultrazord, in 1v1 combat. Twice.
  • Godzilla Threshold: The Impursonator and Cog-Changer's combined form is too much for the Super Zeo Megazord, so the Rangers also summon the Zeo Megazord, the Red Battlezord, and the Warrior Wheel.
  • Lethal Joke Character: The Impursonator, a monster made from Kat's fugly purse, managed to almost defeat the Rangers without really trying. It defeated every possible strategy of Zords, upgrades, combinations, and formations (including both of the Zeo Ultrazords setups), only failing because a) the Machine Empire teleported her away out of jealousy and b) she merged with the Machines' monster, which somehow made them both sucky.
  • Oh, Crap!: Bulk and Skull are shocked to learn that the monster attack, which they thought was staged to further test them during their exam was real and the fact that they could've died.
  • The Only One Allowed to Defeat You: Zig-Zagged. Rita and Mondo still play it straight, but Zedd averts it.
Zedd: Who cares who destroys those Ranger brats?
Rita: What kind of an attitude is that?!
  • Plot-Relevant Age-Up: Billy.
  • Put on a Bus: Billy.
    • Real Life Writes the Plot: David Yost reportedly didn't like the slurs against his homosexuality on the set and walked off before the writers could make up a story to write him out.
  • Rapid Aging: Picking up from the last episode, Billy gets progressively older to the point of gray hair and being unable to walk. He's forced to go to the Aquitians' homeworld to restore his youth, where he stays after falling in love with a female scientist.
  • The Stinger: The end credits are shown with a montage of Billy's best moments as a farewell tribute to the character.
  • Wham Episode: Billy departs for good, and two Ranger teams stand side-by-side in battle for the first time ever.
