Tropes

  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Alyssa cautions Cole that Adler might not have good news about his parents. Cole says he has to know what happened, even if it's bad news.
Cole: Please, tell me what happened to my parents.
Dr. Adler/Master Org: You'll find out soon enough.
  • Big "WHAT?!": Adler when Toxica reveals to him that she and Jindrax have a real Org as their Master now.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Cole is devastated to learn what became of his parents, but he's able to put his anger behind him and find peace. Meanwhile, Toxica and Jindrax unleash a new Arc Villain, while it's hinted that Alder/Master Org is Not Quite Dead.
  • Brought Down to Normal: The redirected blast causes Adler to lose his Master Org powers.
  • The Cavalry: Merrick wasn't at the hospital when Adler pulled off his trap. While Adler tells Cole his backstory, Merrick is off searching for everyone. He eventually finds the warehouse and frees the others, while Cole battles Dr. Adler.
  • Cycle of Revenge: Cole refuses to finish off Dr. Adler and ultimately forgives him to break this, realizing that Adler's desire for revenge was what turned him into what he ultimately became.
  • Due to the Dead: When it's over, Cole visits his parents' graves. He tells them their theories were right and that the Rangers are somewhat continuing their work. He then says he loves his parents, while setting down some flowers on the graves.
  • End of an Era: After eight and a half years, and 444 episodes, Power Rangers ends its run on Fox Kids with this episode, ahead of Fox Kids' own demise and conversion into the 4Kids-owned Fox Box.
  • The End... Or Is It?: Adler is thrown off a cliff by Mandilok, but the last scene shows a real Org horn growing out of his forehead and his eyes snap open.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: After their fight is over, Dr. Adler demands to know why Cole doesn't kill him avenge his parents, despite having lost his Org powers, calling him weak. Cole then tells Adler off for not seeing how his desire for revenge had poisoned him and refuses to go down the same path as him.
  • Evil Is Petty: Adler murdered his two friends over perceived slights. He also launches his attack on the Rangers because his current fortunes have taken a turn for the worse lately.
  • Foreshadowing: Before getting thrown off the cliff, Adler warns Mandilok that he will regret this some day.
  • Hope Spot: Upon learning Adler was found alive, Cole is ecstatic and hopes this means good news about his parents.
  • Internal Reveal: Cole and the other Rangers learn that Dr. Adler is in fact Master Org.
  • Kick the Dog: Adler reveals to Cole that he not only murdered his parents, but he enjoyed every minute of it.
  • Last Villain Stand: As the title implies, Adler/Master Org, now reaching the limit of his Org powers, decides to act a final plan against the Rangers in attempt to take them down with him.
  • Literal Metaphor: Adler after being depowered by Cole, walks into a desert and weakly climbs up to a cliff, where he encounters with Jindrax and Toxica, with the former taunting him:
Jindrax: Well, well, well, well, well, look who's came crawling back.
  • Mercy Kill: Adler says Cole's parents begged for mercy, and he gave it to them.
  • Never Say "Die":
    • Adler goes out of his way to avoid the D-word or any such related term, using lesser terms like "finished off" instead. On the other hand, there is no other ambiguity about what he did to Cole's parents, which normally wouldn't have been allowed. The writers were able to do this because they lied to the Fox executives about Cole's parents somehow being revived later and never told Disney executives about the storyline. Ironically, this was the last episode to premiere on Fox Kids before the Channel Hop to ABC Kids.
    • Before tossing Adler off a cliff, Mandilok explicitly says, "The real Master Org died 3,000 years ago and is never coming back!" Presumably, they were able to get away with all this because 1) the referenced dead character was not human and 2) the twist ending.
  • Sadistic Choice: Cole clearly struggles with letting Adler live.
  • Spiteful Spit: A now human Adler spits in Cole's direction, demanding he finish the job and end him.
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist: Cole just can't believe his parents were betrayed and murdered by someone they considered a friend.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: Cole had previously held out hope that his parents were still alive. Not only are they dead, but he's being told this by their murderer.
