Recap / Power Rangers Wild Force S1E36 The Master's Herald Part 2

Go To

As the Rangers attempt to rescue Princess Shayla from Mandilok and Onikage, their problems become even worse when an old enemy returns, stronger than ever.

Tropes:

  • Armor-Piercing Question: Shayla asking Jindrax to think what the Master Org's will actually do regarding his "promise" to spare his life if he brought Shayla to him is what manages to sow the seeds that lead to his realization that he's been fighting for the wrong side all along and finally denounce the Master Org for his cruelty.
  • Badass Boast: Cole gets distracted thinking about Adler's past, but Taylor reminds him that what they're dealing with isn't human anymore but an Org.
Master Org: [appearing] Not just an Org! I'm the Master Org! Something I won't let you forget!
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Shayla shows Jindrax compassion over what happened to Toxica and later tries to help him during the fight with Onikage. He responds by trying to attack Onikage for pushing her aside rather than run while the ninja is distracted.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Because of the light from Princess Shayla's necklace, the Pegasus Megazord is able to enter the Spirit World and save the Rangers from Onikage.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Onikage and Mandilok are destroyed, but Master Org is back, and Princess Shayla is his prisoner.
  • Blatant Lies: Master Org loudly shouts that he'll forgive Jindrax if he returns with Shayla right now. In private, he tells Onikage to hunt him down and teach him a lesson about disobedience.
  • Bring It: Onikage baits the Rangers into going to the rock quarry by saying it's the only way to rescue Princess Shayla.
  • Broken Pedestal: Toxica's death has caused Jindrax to question who he can trust and his life's purpose. Learning she died because of Master Org's treachery makes it even worse, ultimately causing him to denounce his master and give up on the idea of Org rule.
  • Bunker Woman: Princess Shayla becomes this after Master Org captures and imprisons her in the underground Nexus.
  • Call-Back: The featured dead Orgs are Bell Org, Tire Org, Ship Org, Tombstone Org, Flute Org, and Lion Tamer Org. Clock Org also appears, but his Gaoranger episode was not adapted.
  • Came Back Strong: After losing his powers and being thrown off a cliff to his death by Mandilok in his last appearance in "The Master's Last Stand", Master Org returns as a real Org.
  • Chekhov's Gun: Jindrax holds on to Toxica's mirror, which is how he lucks into getting the better of Onikage with a shadow copy.
  • Conflict Killer: The Rangers' fight with Mandilok comes to an abrupt end when Master Org returns to reclaim his place as Big Bad.
  • Deadly Dodging: Cole performs a variant. He fires on Onikage with the Falcon Summoner—knowing the Ninja Org will instinctively jump to avoid the blast and leave the shadow double to take the hit instead.
  • Didn't See That Coming: "My shadow? That wasn't supposed to happen."
  • Dramatic Irony: Jindrax denounces Master Org for how he destroyed everyone around him, even those who were loyal to him. Certainly true, but Jindrax is unaware of how it's even worse than what he knows, as Adler had betrayed and murdered his best friends without the slightest hesitation.
  • Due to the Dead: The episode opens with Jindrax mourning Toxica's death and saying it's like a part of him is missing now.
  • Evil Twin: Onikage creates shadow copies of the Rangers.
  • Exact Words: "I am but a humble ninja serving his one true master."
  • From Bad to Worse: Alyssa lampshades how Master Org's return has made a bad situation even worse.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: Jindrax insists he only teleported away with Shayla to have some leverage, but she later sees he's not as evil as he's claiming to be.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Onikage plans to force Jindrax to fight his own shadow, like he did with the Rangers. However, Jindrax holds up Toxica's mirror in a fit of panic at the last moment and causes Onikage to create a shadow double of himself instead. Onikage is forced to fight his own shadow and can't destroy him without being destroyed himself. Cole, having overheard this, destroys the Shadow Onikage himself.
  • It's All My Fault: Merrick takes Shayla's abduction the hardest, saying he's supposed to be her protector.
  • Kick the Dog: "Now, join your friend Toxica!"
  • Little "No": Merrick when Master Org escapes with Shayla.
  • Make My Monster Grow: Master Org does this to Onikage so Onikage can do his ultimate move in taking the Rangers to the Org Spirit World.
  • Mass "Oh, Crap!": Everyone but Onikage freaks out after Mandilok [unintentionally] reveals that Master Org now has a real horn.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Jindrax deflects Onikage's shadow spell back at him (thus enabling the Rangers to destroy him) with the same mirror Master Org angrily threw at him back in "Power Play".
  • Not Quite Dead: Onikage delivers a nasty blow against Jindrax, causing an explosion. Jindrax, though wounded, manages to get back up.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Princess Shayla sympathizes with Jindrax's grief over losing Toxica—saying she knows what it's like to lose a good friend.
  • Oh, Crap!: Jindrax and Mandilok when they see that Master Org's horn is real now. Also Jindrax when he realizes Master Org wants to destroy him too.
    Mandilok: But.. you're a human?!
  • Only Friend: Jindrax says Toxica was his only friend for thousands of years.
  • Pet the Dog: Master Org congratulates Onikage for his efforts.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Forced to flee, Jindrax takes Princess Shayla with him. He insists it was solely because he needs a bargaining chip.
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner:
Mandilok: I am the greatest Org! I bow to no one!
Master Org: How wrong you are. [takes down Mandilok in a single blast]
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Master Org gives one to Mandilok over his treachery against him:
Master Org: The Master Org has returned! [Evil Laugh] You, Mandilok, the most traitorous of General Orgs... you thought you could get rid of me?! Huh?!
Mandilok: I am the greatest Org! I bow to no one!
Master Org: How wrong you are.
    • Jindrax later delivers an absolutely brutal one to Master Org, enraged that it was his own master who gave the orders to Onikage to arrange Toxica to get killed. Shayla is sympathetic to him, Master Org however, doesn't care one bit.
Jindrax: I've had it with being an Org. This is ridiculous I can't trust any of you, especially you. You've lied and cheated and have destroyed everyone around you. For 3,000 years, Toxica and I waited for your return, and for what? You've betrayed your most loyal Duke Orgs, the one's that would do anything for you, including cutting off their horn. You're beyond evil, you have no heart. You don't deserve anyone's loyalty. You've destroyed my best friend and my faith in Orgs.
  • The Reveal: Onikage has been working for Master Org the whole time and was clearing the way for his return by destroying the Orgs who have betrayed him.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Master Org personally kills Mandilok for Adler's death, arranged Onikage to destroy Toxica for her betrayal and tries to destroy Jindrax as well, who barely manages to escape.
  • Say My Name: "JINDRAX!"
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Up against Onikage, Jindrax grabs Shayla and teleports away.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: Jindrax says that Master Org has no heart, echoing what Cole had previously said word for word.
  • This Is Gonna Suck:
    • Master Org's big return naturally prompts this response from all concerned.
    • Jindrax has his own moment upon realizing that he's next on Onikage's hit list.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Jindrax was fully prepared to bring Shayla back to the Nexus, recalling what Master Org said about forgiving him if he did. Granted, he really didn't have another choice up to that point, but still...
Jindrax: But Master Org said I was forgiven!
    Onikage: And you believed him?
  • Tragic Keepsake: Jindrax has held onto Toxica's mirror and severed horn. The former later helps Jindrax to save himself from being destroyed.
  • Underestimating Badassery: Mandilok does this when Master Org returns, thinking he's still a human pretending to be an Org and tries to blast his horn, only for it to be revealed to be real, indicating that he's not faking being an Org anymore.
Mandilok: You! With the fake horn!, I can't believe you still have the nerve to continue mocking Orgs!.
  • Villainous BSoD: Between Toxica's death and Master Org's return, Jindrax struggles with his purpose and identity.
  • Wham Shot: When Master Org returns, Mandilok, enraged that the 'human' is still pretending to be an Org, fires at the horn on his head to knock it off him. The horn isn't damaged in the slightest, meaning that this time, it's the real thing; specifically, whereas the "Master Org" we saw up to this point was Viktor Adler with Org powers, this episode reveals Adler died as a result of being thrown off the cliff, allowing the real Master Org's spirit to possess Adler's body.
  • Witch with a Capital "B": How Onikage describes Toxica to Master Org.
  • Worthy Opponent: Onikage congratulates Cole on the Deadly Dodging trick he pulled on him.
Onikage: Red Ranger, that move was worthy of a ninja.
