Hunter: Last one in the water's a little girl!

Tori: You are so...gonna...pay for that.

Tropes

  • Big Damn Heroes: Just as Vexacus is poised to finish him off, Skyla teleports Shane to safety.
  • A Birthday, Not a Break: Sensei gives the Rangers a day off, which coincidentally turns out to be Tori's birthday. Unfortunately for them, Lothor isn't so willing to take a break, especially with the new Evil Space Ninja in town.
  • Call-Back: During the flashback, young Shane carefully removes Skyla from a spider's web. His fear of spiders was established early into the season.
  • The Cameo: The instructor on Marah and Kapri's exercise video is Bopp-A-Roo.
  • Catapult Nightmare: How Shane wakes up from his recurring nightmare about being in the woods.
  • Comically Missing the Point: When Zurgane threatens the Rangers, shouting "Cower, Rangers!", Dustin, naturally, corrects him, "That's 'P', for 'Power' Rangers!"
  • Curb-Stomp Battle:
    • Vexacus effortlessly takes on Shane. When Shane resorts to morphing to try to even the playing field, Vexacus hits him with such a devastating blast that he immediately demorphs.
    • Zurgane's latest Zord leaves the Storm and Samurai Star Megazords in bad shape. Cam expects it to take hours at least and days at most to make repairs.
  • The Dulcinea Effect: Shane with Skyla.
  • Humans Are Cthulhu: Upon seeing Vexacus in his true form.
Shane: Now, there's a face only a mother could love.
Vexacus: I could say the same about you.
  • Lampshade Hanging:
    • Dustin points out how no one ever considers the possibility that a newly arrived alien is a good guy. Granted, Vexacus most definitely isn't good, but Skyla is.
    • Skyla is amused by Shane's confused behavior around her, saying he's encounter plenty of alien beings by now. Shane retorts that none of them looked like her.
  • Noodle Incident: Arguing to Zurgane, Lothor and Vexacus have a very messy history and are sworn enemies.
  • Psychic Dreams for Everyone: Shane keeps having a dream of himself as a child encountering strange creatures in the woods. He doesn't join the others for Tori's birthday because he's certain the dream is trying to tell him something. It was advanced warning of Skyla's return to Earth.
  • Rotating Protagonist: While this and the next episode clearly focus on Shane, there is a sub-plot focusing on Tori, whose birthday is constantly being disrupted.
  • Sarcasm-Blind: Marah gets sidetracked by trying to figure out the answer to Blake's obviously sarcastic question ("Hey, if an alien freak throws a party and nobody shows up, is it still a party?").
  • Saying Too Much: Choobo lets it slip to Cyber-Cam that he and Zurgane found an enemy alien ship.
  • Silence, You Fool!: Zurgane over Choobo spilling the beans to Cyber-Cam about an enemy alien arriving.
  • Tempting Fate: With things heating up, Dustin suggests they get back to Ninja Ops before any Kelzaks show up. The group then spots some in the process of stealing party supplies.
  • That Was Not a Dream: Shane is astonished to come upon specific sights from his nightmare.
  • To Be Continued: The Zords are out of commission, and Vexacus gets his hands on Skyla.
  • Written-In Absence: Sensei has left for a retreat, and he's given the Rangers the day off in the meantime.
