  • Acquired Situational Narcissism: Dustin develops this when the Yellow Ranger is hailed as a public, solo hero for stopping some human thugs from busting up Storm Chargers. While the others (rather unfairly) give him crap about it, Dustin actually takes it in stride and just likes getting some respect for a change. However, after a solo fight against the Monster of the Week in front of some reporters, Dustin starts letting the fame go to his head. When he again encounters the monster (who by this point has captured Hunter and Blake), he refuses to morph or fight until the press are about to arrive—baffling Shane (who is jealous), Tori and even the monster. Dustin gets over it, though.
Shane: Take it from someone who's been there. There's no "I" in team.
    Dustin: Maybe there should be.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: Lothor makes the monster grow and then immediately faces the audience.
"What did you expect? He wasn't going to get smaller!"
  • Broken Aesop: Sensei tells Dustin not to use his abilities for trivial matters. Said trivial matter involved protecting a business that was basically being vandalised. In other words, "Don't use your abilities to stop crime." Admittedly, it was more the fact that he was starting to care more about the attention and fame he was getting for it rather than actually helping people, but he was still helping people anyway.
  • By the Power of Grayskull!: As usual, but Shane and Dustin are very insistent on which one of them gets to lead off and shout the "Ha!" part.
  • Call-Back: Shane cites his bout of Acquired Situational Narcissism when cautioning Dustin about such behavior.
  • Dude, Where's My Respect?: Dustin likes that he's getting respect for once.
  • Friendship Moment:
    Shane: We cool?
    Dustin: Yeah, we're cool.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Dustin accuses Shane of this.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: Slob Goblin can turn anyone into stamps by licking them. Lothor initially thinks that's a stupid power, until he realizes he can use that on the Rangers.
  • Loved by All: Dustin's actions get a universally positive response. The fan site buzz even overloads Cam's computer.
  • Mundane Utility:
    • What gets the plot going is Dustin using his morphing powers to scare off a few thugs trashing the store. Sensei warns, however, that such a thing can have consequences.
    • Sensei does allow Hunter and Blake to use their ninja powers to visit their distant grandmother.
    • Slob Goblin isn't a member of Lothor's army; he normally just uses his power as an Intergalactic Mail Carrier.
  • Mythology Gag: Marah refers to the guys from Triforia as being three times as cute than those from other worlds.
  • Never Mess with Granny: Part of the trap for Hunter and Blake involved subduing their actual grandmother. According to Kapri, it took some effort to Slob Goblin to do so.
  • Pun:
    • Lothor tells Marah and Kapri to bring him stamps with "a thunderous design." Marah doesn't get it, but Kapri does.
    • "I'm gonna stamp out the whole world!"
  • Snark Ball: Just before the Thunder Rangers arrive at the cabin, we get one occasion where it's Marah getting the better of Kapri.
Kapri: [disguised as the grandmother] So, uh, what do you think of my costume?
Marah: Makes you look years younger.
  • Talking Is a Free Action: Averted. Hunter and Blake get turned into stamps while shouting out their morphing calls.
