Andros discovers a shocking truth about his missing sister, and it may be much closer than he had ever though possible...
Tropes:
- The Artifact: During the Megazord battle, we briefly see a Megazord cockpit display that indicated Batarax was apparently being jammed by some sort of van on the ground. This was leftover from the plot of the Megaranger episode, where the van (equipped with a sonic cancelling device) was driven by a civilian friend who'd been wrapped up in the plot (involving CDs being distributed by Shibolena that brainwashed people into performing acts of violence); this is also why Batarax's arm is briefly outstretched before the Astro Megazord hits him with the laser whip, he was reaching for said van.
- Five-Second Foreshadowing:
- When Andros wakes up from his recurring-nightmare memory of Karone being abducted, he looks at a photograph of her as a child on his nightstand. The scene then transitions to Astronema alone in her room on the Dark Fortress.
- Paired with Meaningful Name: Astronema and Andros are in the same scenario, where Quantrons and the Monster of the Week are attacking civilians in Angel Grove. Astronema, in a shocking twist, saves a family of a mother and two siblings, named Andrew and Karen, from being attacked by a Quantron, a few scenes before Andros discovers that Astronema is actually Karone.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: Ecliptor saves Andros from Darkonda's hidden laser bomb. In his frustration at Ecliptor's interference, Darkonda unwittingly triggers his own trap, knocking one life off of his existence.
- Oh, Crap!: Andros when he learns the secret.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Everyone (including herself) is completely shocked silent when Astronema destroys one of her own mooks to protect the aforementioned family.
- Even the music cuts off to dead silence to sell the moment.
- Pet the Dog: Astronema zaps a Quantron for threatening a family.
- Pragmatic Villainy: Ecliptor has no love for any Ranger, but he hates Darkonda even more. He saves Andros from tripping Darkonda's hidden laser bomb, who, ironically, falls victim to his own trap.
- The Reveal: Astronema is Karone.
- Spanner in the Works: Ecliptor deliberately does this to mess up Darkonda's attempt to kill Andros.
- Tragic Keepsake: Astronema was told her family was killed when she was a child. Her locket is all she's ever had.
- Wham Shot:
- A Quantron is attacking a family, and lifts its double-sided blade to deliver a blow to Andros, who is protecting them, until a purple energy bolt streaks through the air, striking it in the back. The Quantron falls backwards, completely disabled, revealing Astronema in the distance, pointing her battle staff in its direction.
- Andros opens Astronema's locket and sees pictures of himself and Karone as kids.
