Javi's in a bad mood after his father confiscates his keytar, but refuses to tell the Rangers why. This brings in problems when Boomtower upgrades his powers, and the only way to stop him is to find the Stego Spike Zord.
In General:
- Call-Back:
- Javi was able to buy his keytar, something he wanted back in New Recruits.
- Solon manages to finish her Zord Finder, which she started working on in Winning Attitude.
- Chekhov's Gun: Javi's whistle in his jacket, which is what draws the Stego Zord out.
- "Eureka!" Moment: It takes the team finding out about Javi's incident happening the same time the Zord Finder went out to realize the Stego Zord was being drawn to Javi's music.
- Fantasy-Forbidding Father: Downplayed, but still present. The problem with the episode starts when Warden Garcia takes away Javi's keytar, upset at both him causing a disturbance around nesting birds, spending a lot of money for the instrument and Javi's inability to stick to one instrument.
- Jerkass Has a Point: Warden Garcia taking away Javi's keytar was mean, but he makes a few valid points about how indecisive Javi can be to stick to a single instrument (having gone through three in a month) and that it was a costly purchase of $900.* That and also because Javi was disturbing the birds' nesting season.
- Obviously Not Fine: Javi insists quite firmly he's fine after porting into the base when the warden's taken his keytar. Even Zayto can immediately peg that this isn't true.
- Took a Level in Badass: Boomtower was not a pushover in the previous episodes, but adding a Sporix Cell into his cannon made him a bigger challenge.
- What the Hell, Hero?: When Warden Garcia sees that Izzy is hurt due to fighting Boomtower, Javi tries to pass it off by saying they caught in the middle of a monster attack and the Black Ranger saved them, only for Garcia to chew Javi out for not trying hard enough to protect his sister. Needless to say, it just makes Javi more irritable.
