Exactly What It Says on the Tin. And just like most of Brock's crushes, Flaaffy is somewhat unnerved by Marshtomp's behavior.

Brock's Mudkip evolves into Marshtomp, and starts picking up his bad habits; most notably, getting a crush on a Flaaffy. Certainly, this can only cause trouble as Team Rocket targets Flaaffy's real love interest, an Ampharos.

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Continuity Nod: Assuming his crush were requited—which it wasn't—Marshtomp and Flaaffy both are in the Monster Egg Group.note
  • Empathy Pet: When Brock gets a crush on Mariah, Marshtomp equally makes overtures toward her Flaaffy.
  • Heartbroken Badass: Marshtomp's crush gets crushed when Flaaffy reveals she loves Ampharos.
  • Justified Title:
    • In the Japanese dub, it represents Flaaffy's trainer being a pharmacist. It also alludes to Marshtomp's crush on Flaaffy without spoiling his evolution.
    • In the English dub, it represents Marshtomp taking more and more after Brock with his evolution.
  • Spanner in the Works: In its first battle for Team Rocket, Mime Jr. makes a mess of everything, playing with the controls of the Meowth Balloon while they're trying to steal the drug store.
  • Spoiler Title: Averted with the Japanese title regarding Mudkip's evolution in this episode, which uses the Japanese name for Mudkip instead of Marshtomp in pairing it with Flaaffy.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Brock's Mudkip finally evolves into Marshtomp.
