When a blackout hits a town on the road to Ecruteak City, our heroes realize it puts the Pokémon in the local Pokécenter in jeopardy. Wanting to help Nurse Joy and the ailing Pokémon, the gang takes on the task of finding out what went haywire at the power plant. Before they can help restore the power however, they have to overcome the latest Team Rocket invention: The Mecha-Robo-Wobbuffet! See how Ash and Pikachu team up with Gary and his Umbreon in order to overcome Team Rocket and restore power to the grateful town.Tropes

- Balloon Belly: Misty, Brock, Pikachu and Togepi end up stuffing their faces during the dinner scene right before the power goes out (with Misty's being sneakly covered up with her odd position and arm placement.)

Ash: Gary! Alright, let's do it! - Character Development: Gary initially writes Ash off as a waste of time. It's only after seeing Ash hold his own against Team Rocket's Wobbuffet mech that he changes his tune.

- Hamster-Wheel Power: After the cord is pulled, James and Meowth pedal to power the Mecha-Robo-Wobbuffet.
- Idiot Ball: Team Rocket's latest weapon is a Giant Wobbuffet, explicitly designed to counter any attack. The twerps' first instinct is to attack it.
- Took a Level in Kindness: Gary is becoming less of a Jerkass every time we see him.
