Ash and Goh return to Slowpoke Island so the latter can add a Slowpoke to his collection. While they succeed, a group of Galarian Slowpoke arrive to share some food with their Kantonian cousins. Unfortunately, they don't seem to like the spicier flavors, and find their brethren to be a bit scary, so the Galarian Slowking decides to have Ash act as his representative to show the other Slowpoke they mean no harm.
This episode contains the following tropes:
- Dark Is Not Evil: The Galarian Slowpoke and their Slowbro/Slowking brethren certainly look frightening, but they really just want to share their food with everyone else.
- Fantastic Racism: The Kantonian Slowpoke don't think too highly of their Galarian counterparts as a result of how scary they look, but thanks to Ash and Goh, both wind up as friends.
- Fire-Breathing Diner: The seeds the Galarian Slowpoke eat are so hot, it causes Ash, Goh, Pikachu, and Grookey to burn out hot fire upon tasting them, yet they still find it delicious.
- Fusion Dance: A variation. While Galarian Slowking!Ash and Kantonian Slowking!Goh are rap battling, the former's curry and the latter's noodles wind up merging together in a golden pot, creating the most delicious noodle curry anyone ever tasted.
- Here We Go Again!: As soon as the Galarian Slowking throws off its crown, Goh and Ash both panic at knowing one of them will wind up under its possession like before.
- Totally Radical: Under the Galarian Slowking's crown, Ash talks like a hip rapper, in contrast to Goh, who speaks more elegantly under the Kantonian Slowking's crown. The two even have a rap battle.
