The camp is put on high alert, but is everything as it seems?

Tropes

  • Darker and Edgier: This is easily the darkest episode of the Summer Academy arc as there is an actual ghost girl that tries to lead people to their deaths.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: The Dusknoir in this episode wasn't trying to lure people into the spirit world. It's trying to prevent people from going to the spirit world.
  • Determinator: Ash absolutely refuses to let go of Angie and let her get sucked into the spirit world. By the next episode, Angie has fallen for him as a result.
  • Near-Death Experience: Conway is nearly lured into going off a cliff by the ghost girl, and is only saved by Dusknoir's intervention.
  • Not Evil, Just Misunderstood: The Dusknoir really means no harm. In fact, it's trying to save those that are being lured by the ghost girl to the spirit world.
  • Not What It Looks Like: After Dusknoir saves Conway from going off a cliff, the Pokémon's appearance scares him so badly that he passes out. Dawn arrives to see Dusknoir floating over Conway's unconscious body, and immediately assumes that the Pokémon did something to him.
  • Paranormal Episode: A rare instance of one involving an actual ghost of a person and not a Pokemon.
  • Oh, Crap!: Conway is visibly very frightened when he realizes he was almost lured into the spirit world.
