The group meets two friendly trainers, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy, with Rainbow planning to enter the Equestria League just like Flash. Flash and Skyler battle Rainbow and her Torpeller, Tank, and are easily beaten. Flash decides to train Skyler to learn Steel Wing, a move that will give him the edge against Rock-Types.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: The first battle between Skyler and Tank is one in Tank's favor, with Skyler unable to deal any damage to Tank at all through the whole battle.
- Heroic Rematch: Subverted; Flash trains with Skyler after they lose to Rainbow and Tank to teach him Steel Wing, which will give him an effective move to use against Rock-Types like Tank. However, even though Skyler does much better in the second battle, he still ultimately loses when his Steel Wing runs out of power.
- Took a Level in Badass: Skyler starts to learn Steel Wing.
- Worthy Opponent: Rainbow Dash happily declares Flash to be one for her, declaring him her new rival. Despite winning both of their battles she is impressed by how fast he and Skyler managed to improve in such a short time, and that facing him will be sure to get her to the next level.
