Flash Sentry and Shining Armor finally begin their official championship title match to determine who will be crowned the strongest trainer in Equestria.

  • Batman Gambit: Flash tells for Skyler to finish off Banshriek with Giga Impact, a Normal-type attack, knowing that almost nobody outside his group of friends knows about Skyler's Scrappy ability. His plan works, and nearly everyone, including Banshriek and Shining Armor, think he has made a mistake and that the attack will do nothing to Banshriek. By the time Shining realizes Flash's trap it is too late for Banshriek to dodge.
  • Call-Back: Luna recounts the events of "Collossal Fossil", how she revived Armadiload, it evolved into Ankyload and went on a rampage, and she caught it and sent it to Shining Armor so he could control it.
  • Cliffhanger: The chapter ends with an explosion caused by Energy Ball and Ice Beam that engulfs Prongs and Lokelpie, with the results of the battle unknown.
  • Exactly What I Aimed At: During the battle between Skyler and Banshriek while Skyler is skimming along the surface of one of the pools, Shining tells Banshriek to use Ghostly Wail. This surprises everyone snce this Ghost-type attack won't hurt a Normal-type like Skyler, and Skyler is shown to be unaffected by it while everyone else covers their ears. However, the soundwaves from the attack strikes the water on the pool and creates a giant wave that engulfs Skyler.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: When Flash orders Skyler to use Giga Impact on Banshriek, Shining Armor, like many others watching, thinks that this is a mistake from Flash since Ghost-type Pokémon are immune to Normal-type attacks, and didn't expect him to make a "rookie mistake" like this during such an important battle. But when he sees Flash smiling, he realizes too late that it wasn't a mistake.
Shining: Flash, I expected more from you. You normally wouldn't make such a rookie mistake. (sees Flash smiling, causing him to grimace) Which means this isn't a mistake! Banshriek, get out of there!
  • Failures on Ice: Shining has his Lokelpie use Ice Beam on the battlefield, freezing the grass field parts in ice. This not only lets Lokelpie travel out of the pools on the battlefield, but it makes it harder for Prongs to get around, since he ends up slipping on the ice himself.
  • History Repeats: After Viper is beat by Lokelpie, Flash sends out Prongs. Tidal Wave notes how this is the same matchup from Flash's match at his Gym, and wonders how Promgs will do against a champion-leveled Lokelpie as opposed to his own.
  • Internal Reveal: Skyler's Scrappy ability is revealed to nearly everyone watching the battle outside of Flash and his friends, when he manages to defeat Banshriek with Giga Impact thanks to it. This actually worked to Flash's advantage, since Shining Armor and Banshriek were unaware of this ability and thus made no attempt to dodge the attack until it was too late.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Shining's Ankyload shows to be this, to the surprise of nearly everyone. Despite its heavy weight it can jump very high up, using a Belly Flop Crushing for its Heavy Slam attack. Add to that its high attack and heavy defense and it makes a tricky opponent. Flash realizes that the best way to handle it is to disable its legs so it can't throw its weight around anymore, turning it into a huge target.
  • Rousing Speech: Flash gives these to Skyler, Viper, and Prongs during their battles against Banshriek, Ankyload, and Lokelpie respectively, triggering a Heroic Second Wind from each of them.
  • Sore Loser: During the montage of everyone watching the battle across Equestria at the beginning of the chapter, Timber Spruce and Wingill are the only ones shown to be upset while watching, still angry over losing to Flash. In Timber's case, Gloriosa and Breloom need to literally drag him and force him to sit down and watch the match.
