Recap / Phineas And Ferb Tour De Ferb

Go To

When Baljeet reveals to the kids that he comes from a long line of bicycle race losers (every male since his great-grandfather has been mauled by a Bengal tiger each time they compete in a race), Phineas and Ferb decide to host a bicycle race to help him regain his confidence. Meanwhile, Dr. Doofenshmirtz decides to create a device called the Pop-Up-Inator, which will post annoying pop-up ads for products he's selling all over the Tri-State Area.

Tropes

  • Annoying Pop-Up Ad: Dr. Doofenshmirtz develops the Pop-Up-Inator, a device meant to post annoying pop-up ads for products he's selling all over the Tri-State Area, which can physically appear anywhere, including on movie screens, baseball scoreboards, and even stop signs.
  • As Himself: Greg LaMond, the first American to win the Tour de France. He brings up a true story about a hunting accident where his brother-in-law mistook him for a turkey and shot him.
  • Beyond the Impossible: Candace was somehow strong enough to pick up Linda, carry her and run out to her bike, and put her in the basket.
  • Big "NO!": By Candace when the evidence on her camcorder is obscured by pop-up ads from Doof's inator.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: Linda tells Candace to remember to feed Perry, and then Candace says, "Where's Perry?"
  • Brick Joke: After Baljeet tells about his family's past with tigers attacks during bicycle races, Phineas reassures him that the tiger excluder will make tiger attacks rare in Danville. Later, when Greg LaMond is about to beat Baljeet, a tiger then attacks him, causing Ferb to remark that they need to change the batteries on the tiger excluder.
  • Buffy Speak: Buford calls a giant lake a "big round wet thing".
  • Crazy-Prepared: Linda picked today to wear her bike helmet in the shower.
  • Flashback Within a Flashback: For the backstory, Doof recalls how he was this close to winning an online auction, but then a pop-up ad stopped him. He then explains it was because of a traumatic experience he had doing a photo shoot for a pop-up ad with a wombat, and it flashes back to that very moment before going back to the original backstory.
Doofenshmirtz: I don't wanna talk about it.
  • Inevitable Waterfall: Near the end of the "Tour de Ferb" song, Candace is spying on the kids from a rowboat when it gets pulled over a waterfall.
  • Noodle Incident: Linda is taking a shower because there was some sort of incident at the baby shower she attended.
  • Promoted Fangirl: One of the Fireside Girls in this episode has a Non-Standard Character Design. This is because she was the winner of a contest on Radio Disney.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Despite the bike race being blocked off by the Pop-up-inator, Candace doesn't bother to show her mother the map, which never disappeared.
  • Won't Take "Yes" for an Answer: Greg LaMond doesn't realize his first speech was all Baljeet needed, and keeps showing up at parts of the race he expects Baljeet to try quitting at. Baljeet quickly grows exasperated because he's not trying to quit.
