Recap / Phineas And Ferb Sci Fi Pie Fly

Go To

Phineas and Ferb create their own flying saucer to help solve the mystery of a recent rash of crop circles. Meanwhile, Candace takes a "me day", and across town, Doofenshmirtz challenges the local pizzeria's "37 minutes or it's free" rule by using his "Dough-Blow-inator" to generate a powerful current of air to hold the pizza dough aloft indefinitely.

Tropes:

  • 30 Minutes, or It's Free!: Doof has to watch every penny while waiting for his alimony check, even checking his watch while the pizza guy is at the door to make sure the 37 minutes are up so he won't have to pay for his pizza. But the pizza guy wants him to pay anyway.
  • Arbitrary Skepticism: Buford apparently doesn't believe in spaceships, even though he's been in one before.
  • Bait-and-Switch: The news reports shows a drawing of the aliens spotted, which happen to resemble Phineas and Ferb. This is meant to make us think that the news mistook the flying saucer that Phineas and the gang were using for a real UFO and they mistook Phineas and Ferb for the aliens. However, later, the real aliens appear and they indeed happen to resemble the boys.
  • Continuity Nod: Doof's ability to speak whale from "Perry Lays an Egg" is brought up when he taunts the pizza guy.
  • Crop Circles: Phineas and Ferb try to investigate the ones that suddenly appeared in Danville.
  • Formula-Breaking Episode: Candace decides to take a day to herself and avoid busting her brothers since she figures that the plans always end up blowing up in her face. ("FACE!") However, the pizza she ordered ended up blowing up in her face anyway.
  • Hypocritical Humor: A farmer sees Phineas and the gang in the flying saucer, confirming that he wasn't crazy. He then proceeds to talk to his backhoe.
Farmer: Oh, yeah? Well, nobody asked you, Farm Utensil Bob!
  • I Shall Taunt You: Before the dough duel, Doof does some pre-gloating.
  • Insane Troll Logic: When Baljeet asks Buford why he wants to ride on the flying saucer if he doesn't believe in it, Buford replies by saying it's to confirm it's not real.
  • Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping: The pizza guy speaks with a stereotypical exaggerated Italian accent, which is revealed to be fake at the end.
Pizza Guy: Ooh, you must-a be fun-a at-a the parties. (American accent) But, seriously, though, don't order my pizzas again.
  • Special Guest: Guy Fieri plays the pizza guy.
  • To the Tune of...: Agent P gets his mission from a puppet show performed by Monogram in the antique shop, sung to the tune of "This Old Man".
    Agent P, over here
Let us get this thing in gear
There's a big ol' lump of trouble in town
    Awful things are going down

    (takes a breath)

    Please go stop Doofenshmirtz
I know this puppet show's the worst
But I never said that I could write a song
(sighs, then speaks) Could you just leave? This is really embarrassing.
  • Twitchy Eye: Whenever Candace's urge to bust rises, her eye twitches, but she has to remind herself she is taking a "me day".
  • We Interrupt This Program: Candace's show gets interrupted by the news of the sighting of Phineas and Ferb's "UFO".
  • Your Television Hates You: Candace tries to flip through channels to avoid hearing about the impending alien invasion, which she assumes her brothers are behind, but they all talk about it, including a news channel, a Spanish channel, and a home shopping channel.
