Recap / Phineas And Ferb Not Phineas And Ferb

Go To

While Phineas and Ferb go to a movie, Irving learns that his brother Albert doesn't believe Phineas and Ferb build all their amazing things, so he recruits help from Buford, Baljeet and Isabella to convince Albert it's true. Meanwhile, Doofenshmirtz flies around the world to shrink various landmarks for his train set.

Tropes:

  • Artistic License – Art: The Sphinx is depicted in this episode with a nose, which it lost over six hundred years ago.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: When Baljeet and Buford both dress themselves up as Phineas, Buford mentions that Phineas is the one who gets all the lines.
  • Brick Joke: Doofenshmirtz struggles to come up with a Punny Name for the Roman Coliseum after shrinking it. At the end of the episode, he finally comes up with one: "Roman Small-iseum".
  • Cassandra Truth: Albert doesn't believe in Irving's stories about Phineas and Ferb, which was the start of the plot. After Albert ends up believing that Buford and Baljeet were the Phineas and Ferb, Irving tries to prove that they weren't real and that the Eiffel Tower in the backyard was a hologram, only to fail when he crashes into the real Eiffel Tower (dropped and unshrunk during Perry and Doofenshmirtz's fight).
  • Continuity Nod:
    • When Baljeet activates the 3D projector that records Phineas and Ferb's creations, a few of the boys' other inventions are shown before they settle on the Eiffel Tower replica, namely the bubble machine and the time machine.
    • Buford mentions in "Voyage to the Bottom of Buford" that his goldfish, Biff, is named after his mother. In this episode, we learn that Buford's mother's name is Biffany.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Irving.
  • Exorcist Head: Buford, posing as Ferb, claims he can do this, and does so by turning his Ferb mask around.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Irving attempts to prove to Albert that Phineas and Ferb's antics are real, but since the boys are away, he asks Buford and Baljeet to impersonate them and use a 3D projector to pretend they're building something. Albert is thoroughly fooled, so much so that Irving ends up being frustrated at him and try to convince him that he was just bluffing (see Cassandra Truth above).
  • Hash House Lingo: After showing off his "short-order messaging system" to Perry the Platypus, Monogram barks at Carl "Adam and Eve on a raft, wreck 'em!" (which is real-life diner speak for two scrambled eggs on toast).
  • Hurricane of Puns: Doofenshmirtz comes up with Punny Names for each of the world landmarks he shrinks, such as the "Great Small of China" or the "Teeny Tower of Pizza [sic]". He struggles a bit coming up with a good pun for the Roman Colosseum until the end of the episode, when he finally comes up with one: the "Roman Smallosseum".
  • Letting the Air out of the Band: When Phineas and Ferb come back from the movie marathon, singing the Space Adventure theme song, they interrupt themselves, saying that they're over it.
  • Monumental Theft: Doofenshmirtz plans to use his Shrink-inator, now installed onto his jet skiff, to travel around the world and steal all the national monuments, so that he can place them on his model train set.
  • Noodle Incident: Doofenshmirtz once mentioned that he had his first apartment, which has living conditions that are worse than the inside of Perry's fedora.
  • Paper-Thin Disguise: While Phineas and Ferb are away at the movies Irving has Buford and Baljeet wear Phineas and Ferb costumes to trick Albert. It surprisingly worked.
  • Real Men Wear Pink: When Irving comes up with a makeover idea, both Buford and Baljeet squeal like girls as they enjoy makeovers, especially masculine ones.
  • Shaped Like Itself: Space Adventure... it's an adventure in space!
  • Title Drop: Baljeet says, "Too bad we are not Phineas and Ferb."
  • Welcome to My World: A deadpan Linda says this word-per-word when Candace realizes everything is gone and she invites all the mothers in for tea.
