When Vanessa learns that Doofenshmirtz has inherited a Drusselsteinian castle right next door to her she seizes the opportunity to throw the biggest Halloween bash ever. The whole town is there, including Phineas and Ferb, who act as the event's party planners. Meanwhile, Doofenshmirtz enlists Perry to help him find a large, hidden treasure that his Great Aunt has placed somewhere within the castle.

Tropes

  • Actor Allusion: Vanessa dresses as a Vampire Queen, which could be a nod to her actress, Olivia Olson's, other best known voice role as Marcelline the Vampire Queen from Adventure Time.
  • Bait-and-Switch Comment:
Isabella: If I lose a slipper tonight, you know where to find me.
Phineas: (leaving) Ooh, that reminds me —
    Isabella: ("loses" a slipper) Whoops!
Phineas: — There's some water on the floor over by the sally port!
  • Bedsheet Ghost: Perry shows up at Doofenshmirtz’s apartment in disguise as one.
Doofenshmirtz: And what are you supposed to be a kid in a sheet? (Perry takes off sheet) A platypus in a sheet? (puts on fedora) PERRY THE PLATYPUS IN A SHEET?!?!
  • Continuity Nod:
  • Creepy Twins: When Doof and Perry approach the elevator in the basement, a pair of twins emerge from it.
  • Dance of Romance: Vanessa and Monty dance a romantic tango as the former finally arrives at the party.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Candace quotes this when she sees that Vanessa hired Phineas and Ferb to plan her party.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus:
    • The tombstone decorations at the party have humorous epitaphs like "Here lies Robnote , how's that for macabre?" and "This Space for Rent".
    • When Doof and Perry on in a tower-elevator, there is a very noticable painting of his Great Aunt scowling behind them. When the elevator breaks and drops the two downward, the painting is now smiling.
  • The Friends Who Never Hang: This marks the only time Vanessa interacts with Jeremy and Stacy.
  • Glass Smack and Slide: Upon being ejected from the chair lift, Doofenshmirtz slaps into the stained glass window and slides into the moat below.
  • Halloween Episode: The fifth, and the second one to actually take place on Halloween.
  • Kinky Role-Playing: Implied as a Parental Bonus. Linda dresses in a nurse's outfit and flirts with Lawrence, who's dressed as a gorilla and playfully chases her around the house.
  • Ladyella: Isabella is dressed as Cinderella. Phineas calls her "Isabellarella".
  • Monster in the Moat: The moat around Henrietta’s castle has an alligator in it named Susan. It’s also apparently home to a hippo.
  • Needle in a Stack of Needles: Vanessa and Monty have to try to find each other at the party among the several other people dressed in the same costumes.
  • One-Woman Wail: Courtesy of Baljeet during Ferb's tango song.
  • Open-Fly Gag: Irving is wearing a castle costume and Buford tells him that his drawbridge is down. He hastily looks at his crotch and notices that the drawbridge on the costume is open and immediately raises it.
    Irving: How embarrassing!
  • Reprise Medley: The song that DJ Ferb plays for the party is a remix of songs from previous episodes, including "Squirrels in My Pants", Emmy-nominated "Ain't Got Rhythm", "Spa Day", "I'm Lindana and I Wanna Have Fun", "Yippee-Ki-Yi-Yay" and "That's Wings, You Turkey". (The full version also includes snippets from "Gitchee Gitchee Goo", "Phinedroids and Ferbbots", "Backyard Beach", "Rollercoaster" and "Dance Baby".)
  • Rhymes on a Dime: The clues that Doof's great aunt left him on his treasure hunt are rhyming couplets.
  • Running Gag: Someone showing up in the same costume as Vanessa, and eventually the Scarlet Pimpernel whom Monty is dressing as.
  • Secret Relationship: Vanessa and Monty, who have to keep their relationship a secret because their fathers are enemies, are excited to be out in public together at Vanessa’s Halloween costume party.
  • Ship Tease: At the party, Ginger is seen dancing with Baljeet, much to the ire of Buford.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Stock Money Bag: A pile of these come falling out of a secret compartment when Doofenshmirtz solves all of his aunt’s clues. This is lampshaded by the city code enforcer when he fines Doof for his unpermitted castle.
Code Enforcer: One canvas bag with a huge dollar sign on it.
  • Subverted Catchphrase: Instead of someone asking where Perry is, Lawrence turns around a Jack-O'-Lantern with Perry's face carved in it, which cuts to Perry entering his lair.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: When Monty makes a dramatic exit out the castle window, afterwards he’s shown climbing out of the moat soaking wet.
Monty: Let’s hope she didn’t see that.
  • Taxman Takes the Winnings: After Doofenshmirtz and Perry finally find the treasure, a barrage of city officials show up to confront Doofenshmirtz for unpaid fees for owning a castle in Danville. As such, a frustrated Doofenshmirtz is forced to spend most of the treasure by paying giving each official a bag of money, although the fact that he DOES get to keep the castle helps soften the blow.
  • Treasure Hunt Episode: The B plot focuses on Doofenshmirtz and Perry working together to find the treasure hidden in the castle Doof inherited from his aunt.
  • Tutti Frutti Hat: Major Monogram and Carl each wear one for their Halloween costumes.
  • Two Men, One Dress: Buford and Balfeet go in a two-person dragon costume to Vanessa’s party.
  • Variations on a Theme Song: This episode begins with a Halloween-edition of the theme song, but instead of changing the lyrics, the background music is more sinister and patterned after "monster mash", and skeletons and goblins and other Halloween imagery are sprinkled throughout.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: As told by Doof, his great-aunt Henrietta Hawkenschpit was sympathetic towards him during his childhood and loved him more than his brother Roger. Even before her death, she willingly hands over the deed and fortune of her castle to Doof, though he is forced to give away most of the fortune to avoid facing charges for unpaid fees.
  • The Unfavorite: For once, Doof was not this to a member of his family (his Great Aunt). Instead, it was actually Roger.
  • Wild Teen Party: Vanessa throws a Halloween costume party in the castle her dad inherited.
