Recap / Phineas And Ferb Candace Disconnected

Go To

After losing yet another phone, Phineas and Ferb create a replacement phone for Candace with a teleportation app which inadvertently sends her to Easter Island. Meanwhile, Doofenshmirtz creates a Pick-em-up-inator to pick up Vanessa from school so he can enjoy his exercise show; while downstairs, he finds the original prototype for Norm's head.

Tropes:

  • Bait-and-Switch Comment:
    Candace: Can you fix it?
Phineas: Well, it took almost 40 years to perfect the technology that makes the modern cell phone possible, so... give us 38 minutes.
  • Borrowed Catchphrase/Buffy Speak: When Doofenshmirtz's inator picks up Vanessa, she yells, "Curse you, Unknown Rocket Helmet Transportation Thing!" Then when she finds that it transported her home, she says, "Never mind, Unknown Rocket Helmet Transportation Thing".
  • Brick Joke: Throughout the episode, Buford decides to talk about Isabella and Phineas behind their backs while Phineas is transporting to her. When Candace leaves, the gang continues what they were doing, with Buford saying "On the way there, let's talk about Candace". When Candace returns from Easter Island, Phineas says "Buford was just talking about you".
  • Buffy Speak: The Pick 'Em Up-inator is called an "Unknown Rocket Helmet Transportation Thing" by Vanessa.
  • By the Lights of Their Eyes: In Doof's basement...
Doofenshmirtz: Man, it's dark down here. (bumps into something) Turn on the light, Heinz, you're not a bat.
  • Catchphrase Interruptus: Doofenshmirtz screams "Curse you Perry the-" when he gets a phone call from Vanessa. He then tells her to wait a second, screams out the final "-Platypus!", and then asks her how her class went.
  • The Cavalry: A sea turtle on Easter Island turns out to be Agent T of O.W.C.A. who contacts Carl to tell him that Candace is marooned there.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Norm's old head (this is the reason why Doofenshmirtz left him in storage in the first place).
  • Don't Explain the Joke: When Norm's Old Head lands in Easter Island, he asks "When does the bunny come with the eggs?" When he gets no reaction, he says, "Easter Island?"
Norm's Old Head: Where's that bird with the rimshot app when you need him?
  • Four Is Death: Candace lost four phones in four months.
  • Here We Go Again!: At the end of the episode, Candace gets back to Danville and realizes that the phone is lost. Phineas tells her not to worry since he and Ferb made her another one. Candace thanks him and says "You do realize that I'm still gonna have to bust you for making me go to Timbuktu...?"; guess where she gets transported to.
    Candace: Meap.
  • Hopeless with Tech: Major Monogram is unfamiliar with phone acronyms. He thinks that "TTYL" is a codename for a clever hacker, and doesn't know what it means when Doof is "ROTFL", and he makes his phone say "QQQQQ".
Carl: That just means your thumb is on the Q key, sir.
  • Musicalis Interruptus: We hear the Evil Jingle as normal, but then when we hear it again, the singers sing, "Doofenshmirtz's...", and then a basso profundo soloist says, "...basement!" as the camera pans down to the building's basement.
  • Negative Continuity: Linda tells Candace she won't get another phone for Candace if the one she got her is lost; yet episodes later, Candace has another phone.
  • Not So Stoic: During "Dance Baby", Perry has a very rare smile on his face while working out with Doof.
  • Oh, Crap!: Candace when she realizes all her new phone does is MAKE PHONE CALLS. Then she gets a bigger one seconds later when it gets destroyed.
  • Overly Long Gag: The delivery guy driving back and forth over Candace's phone to figure out where to put the box, then to give Phineas the delivery form to sign, and then to get his pen back, and then to get the cap for his pen.
  • Rimshot: The phone has an app that plays a rimshot whenever Candace makes a joke or pun.
  • Special Guest: Joel McHale plays Norm's Old Head.
  • Trigger Phrase: Saying "Go to...", followed by the name of a location, causes the phone to teleport the user there.
  • Twitchy Eye: Candace gets one after realizing the phone Linda got her only makes phone calls and nothing else.
  • Virtual Assistant Blunder: The phone that Phineas and Ferb make for Candace can teleport the user to any location if the user says "Go to [insert location]". This backfires when Candace and Stacy are having a conversation and Candace says "Why would you ever want to go to Easter Island?". On cue, the phone immediately teleports her to Easter Island.
  • The Unreveal: Whatever sculpture Phineas and Ferb made while Candace was away at Easter Island.
  • Word Salad Lyrics: Several lines in "Dance Baby" are nonsensical:
Dance, baby, dance, baby, hands in the air
Go down to the store and buy a wicker chair
    [...]
Sweat, baby, sweat, baby, soak your hat
Wring it out, take it to the laundromat
