It's the day before Donna and Joe's wedding and Craig is on high alert. Donna asks her maid of honor, April, to make sure the Meagles behave themselves at her wedding. Her family loves drama but they also give good presents.

Leslie and Ben prepare for the rehearsal dinner and thank their nanny, Roz, for her effort at the impossible task of watching the triplets. It's then that Jennifer Barkley arrives and tells them that she's interested in helping Ben run for Congress.

The rehearsal party is held at Tom's Bistro. Leslie wants Ben to run for that Congressional seat but she tells him she's neutral so as to not stress him out. She suggests he pretend as if he were running to see how it feels. After getting drunk, the pair party the night away. Meanwhile, Ron accidentally tells Lucy that Tom could imagine marrying her, which upsets Tom. Ron tries to backtrack but only makes things worse by telling her Tom wants kids and to live on an island. In the kitchen, April and Andy have wrangled all the trouble-causing Meagles and put them in line. Donna compliments April on how smoothly the event is going.

The next morning, Leslie and Ben wake up hungover and discover that Ben drunkenly left several voicemails for Jennifer detailing his policy proposals and accepting the offer to run for Congress. As a result, Jennifer releases a premature campaign video. They meet Jennifer at JJ's Diner, where Jennifer suggests to not back out, as it could destroy his career.

At the wedding, Ron tells Tom and Lucy to bury the hatchet and be honest with each other about their relationship. The wedding ceremony proceeds without a hitch, with Leslie as a bridesmaid and April as maid of honor.

Outside the church, the press confronts Ben about his decision to run for Congress. He is frustrated because he is currently trying to deal with an issue for the triplets but he realizes he loves solving problems and his work as Pawnee's City Manager speaks for itself, so he officially declares his run for Congress, much to Leslie's glee.

At the wedding reception, everyone teases Terry when the name "Garry" is printed on his name card on the table, which leads to everyone calling him Garry — his real name — via another name change. Donna winks at him and he realizes it was her doing. The whole group then congratulates Ben on his decision to run for Congress and he toasts to Donna and Joe's future.

Donna mentions to April that she misses some of the usual Meagle drama. As Craig prepares to serenade the happy couple (in reality serenading himself), April invites Donna's estranged brother LaVondrius into the wedding with a microwave they were fighting over decades ago. He smashes the microwave on the dance floor, to which Donna thanks April for the absent drama she was missing.

Tropes in the episode

  • Amicable Exes: Donna's parents are divorced but are perfectly civil with each other, even happily chatting with each other when Ben and Leslie meet them. Pretty surprising considering the Meagles' normal attitude.
  • The Call Knows Where You Live: Ben and Leslie had avoided Jennifer's calls for so long that she up and went to their house to get an answer out of them.
  • Child Hater: Jennifer Barkley is disgusted by children, even frightened at one point when one of the Knope-Wyatt triplets runs by.
Jen: What was that?! That thing was huge!
  • Dysfunctional Family: Donna's is one to the extreme.
  • Geeky Turn-On: After Ben announces he will run for Congress, Leslie immediately swoons, tells him how hot that was, and kisses him.
  • Good Cop/Bad Cop: How April and Andy keep the more combative members of the Meagle family in line: April gets tough and threatens a few of them (even reducing Donna's cousin Genuwine to tears) while Andy takes a more positive and uplifting approach (even hugging Genuwine to make him feel better).
  • Hidden Depths: Craig briefly reveals he has a rather smooth and soulful singing voice.
  • In Vino Veritas: Ben and Leslie get seriously drunk, to the point that Ben calls Jennifer and tells her to put out several policy statements. When she meets the couple the next day and learns that they were drunk, Jennifer laughs and remarks they would fit in well in Washington, as most Representatives are already drunk.
  • Jenny's Number: Leslie finds out that she called the number 867-5309 over a hundred times. Leslie can later be heard singing the Tommy Tutone song in one of Jennifer's voice messages.
  • Malicious Misnaming: Subverted. When the crew sees his place card on their banquet table is marked "Garry", everyone immediately starts using that as his new name, not knowing that this is his real name. Garry is touched by this, especially since the wink Donna gave him shows that it was entirely deliberate on her part.
  • Nervous Wreck: Roz, the Knope-Wyatt triplets' nanny, is pretty overwhelmed by the triplets' energetic antics. To reassure her, Leslie says that she could survive Ben leaving her (much to Ben's surprise and confusion) but not Roz leaving her.
  • Noodle Incident: Whatever that falling out was between Donna and her brother. It involved a microwave and popcorn.
  • Passive-Aggressive Kombat: The Meagle family strongly favors this trope, with Andy even saying that it's both passive yet aggressive. He thinks there should be a word for it, like "nicey-meanie".
  • Sickeningly Sweethearts: The Gergiches.
    Ron: Control yourselves, Gergiches!
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: After years of being known by various other nicknames, Donna makes sure that Garry is finally known by his real name.
  • Wedding Episode: This episode is about Donna and Joe's wedding.
