Go To

The pieces are all set: Xadhoom has surrendered herself to save the last Xerbians, leaving Paperinik, Xari and Xalya to find a way to save her and all the other hostages.

Tropes Present In This Issue:

  • A God Am I: Xadhoom's reaction when Xari suggests to find a way to bring her back to normal:
Xadhoom:"I'm really free! Free from all the needs that torment you! It's you that should become like me!"
  • Authority Equals Asskicking: The Emperor is perfectly able to defend himself during the revolt of the Coolflames.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Xado's whole motivation to do her experiment was to be an energy source for Xerba. Not only she almost becomes this for Evron, but she must take her life to give a future to her people.
  • Call-Back: The Evronians try to use the same forcefield that captured Xadhoom in the first issue where she appeared. However she learned her lesson and they only manage to hit one of their ships.
  • Continuity Snarl: The Xerbian scientist is called Xalya, but in the previous issue her name was Xeriin.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Enraged by finding the last base of her people destroyed, Xadhoom manages to do that to three Evronian battlefleets.
  • Dressing as the Enemy: Paperinik disguises himself as a Coolflame once again. And once again forgot they aren't able to talk.
  • Dramatic Irony: Xari mentioned that he accepted to work with the Evronians to capture Xadhoom because "That misterious creature didn't mean anything to me!". If only he knew...
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Xadhoom transform herself into a sun to give her people enough energy to live on the planet they found.
  • Heroic Willpower: Is what allows Xadhoom to resist to the effect of the Evronian machine for so long: the Emperor even lampshades this.
  • Hostage Situation: The Emperor uses the whole population of Xerba to force Xadhoom to surrender.
  • Killed Off for Real: Xadhoom, sadly.
    • Heck, even if most of them happen off panel, this is the issue with the most fatalites, considering how Xadhoom trashed three battlefleets and the destruction of the planet Evron.
  • Jack Bauer Interrogation Technique: Xadhoom does this to a couple of Evronian scientists to force them to explain how to use the mnemonic recorder.
  • Living Battery: The plan of the Evronians is to force Xadhoom to explode and transform her in a unlimited power supply for Evron. It's an extreme case of Dramatic Irony, since it's what she wanted to become for the Xerbians. And she kind of does, in the end...
  • Love Triangle: Xalya is in love with Xari just like Xadhoom. In the end the issue is resolved thanks to Xadhoom's Heroic Sacrifice / I Want My Beloved to Be Happy moment.
  • Meaningful Name: Xadhoom as usual, but it is worth noting since this time, as Paperinik notes, it's the Xerbians that are in debt with her, since she transform herself into a sun to let them survive.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Thanks to the Emperor trying to cause her to explode Xadhoom learns how to transform into a sun by resisting those attempts.
  • Planet Spaceship: The same one of the last issue. Gets destroyed by Xadhoom
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: "Goodbye, Evron! With this we have closed accounts!" just as the Planet Spaceship is exploding.
  • Sequel Hook: The recording of her memories that Xadhoom entrust Paperinik with and the group of Evronian scientists escaping with a science ship.
  • Slave Liberation: Thanks to the device created by the Xerbians, all the Coolflame on Evron are freed and back to normal.
  • Tracking Device: Paperinik puts one on Xari when the latter is taken away from the Evronians. It's a good thing he did.
  • Was Once A Xerbian: Xadhoom gets this when Xari mentions to find a way to bring her back to normal. See under A God Am I for her reaction.
