Recap / PaPCAaMiPT Ch 41 "Potty Fever"

Go To

Pinkie Pie and Pound Cake are keeping the events of the last chapter secret and the twins get taken to Sweet Apple Acres while the toilet is fixed. Pound, who is now in pull-ups, has a fever and is coughing, sneezing, and congested. Applejack diagnoses his condition as feather flu. The twins are confused because Pound's feathers feel fine, and Granny Smith explains that it's called feather flu because it only infects pegasi.

Applejack puts Pound (who suspects that he either got it from Flurry Heart or from the spell that made Twilight a kangaroo) down for a nap, then goes out to buy medicine. Pound falls asleep quickly because it seems drowsiness is another symptom of feather flu, and when he wakes up, he can hear Granny Smith talking to Pumpkin.

They're in the bathroom and Granny Smith is praising Pumpkin for "leaving gold in the pot". Pound thinks this means he somehow infected her and her pee is solid. He runs out of the crib and tells Granny Smith not to flush (since he thinks the waste would be evidence Pumpkin is sick) but she does. He explains what happened, and Granny Smith explains that "gold" is just a euphemism that country ponies have for pee.

This chapter provides examples of

  • Babysitting Episode: The twins get foalsat by the Apples.
  • Faux Horrific: In the last chapter, Pound is scared that Pumpkin would get revenge on him, but this chapter reveals that the only revenge he's thinking of is intentionally using his potty instead of her own.
  • Groin Attack: Not really, but Pound thinks that Pumpkin is peeing solid. Passing something solid out of a urethra would be very painful...
  • Thermometer Gag: Mentioned when Pound is glad he's having his temperature taken with the thermometer under his wings instead of "the other way".
  • Platonic Kissing: Applejack kisses Pound on the head.
  • Sick Episode: Pound has the feather flu, a pegasus disease that causes a fever, coughing, sneezing, sleepiness, and congestion.
  • Unusual Euphemism: The Apples call pee "gold", which is apparently a common Equestrian euphemism in rural areas. They additionally have an even grosser euphemism for poop, according to Pumpkin.
