- Heel–Face Turn: Keane completes his transition from cold-blooded killer into a devout Muslim.

- Never My Fault: Devlin criticises McManus and Glynn for the way they run the prison, but, as McManus points out, a lot of the tension was caused by Devlin trying to take the prisoner's rights away by banning smoking and conjugal visits.
- Nice Guy: Beecher agrees to help Ryan appeal his case without asking for anything in return.
- No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Keane gives Ryan a chance to change his ways. As soon as Keane does this, Ryan decides to have him killed to make sure he doesn't rat on him.
- Noble Bigot: Despite his anti-gay beliefs Said scolds Keane for physically attacking his brother and states that bullying people to do what you want isn't the answer.
- Odd Friendship: Mukada and Alvarez continue to bond as Mukada gives him emotional support when the doctors learn his son has a bad liver.
- Pet the Dog: Ryan comforts Beecher when he sees he's been crying and gives him some drugs to help him cope with Schillinger's abuse.
- Sanity Slippage: Alvarez cuts himself over his son's illness.
