This Episode Provides Examples of:
- Artistic License – Pharmacology: A couple of Lithium pills would not have the effects shown, nor would an Epi-pen act as a perfect antidote.
- The Atoner: Downplayed when Black Cindy decides to use the Epi-pen on Suzanne instead of letting Nicky.
- Bury Your Gays: Goodbye, Piscatella.]
- Chekhov's Gunman: The conversation between SWAT team members about where to point thier guns.
- Cliffhanger: As expected. A leg up from last season at that. Frieda, Suzanne, Taystee, Black Cindy, Gloria, Blanca, Red, Nicky, Piper, and Alex are in the pool. The SWAT team is coming in after them, expecting a fight. The door blows, the ladies are standing in the pool, holding hands, having decided to Face Death with Dignity and... Fade To Orange.]]
- Heel–Face Door-Slam: Piscatella gets hit with this hard with a pepper round hitting him in the face.
- Human Shield: Zirconia tries to use Luschek as this.
- I Am Spartacus: Played for drama when Linda tries to tell the SWAT team that she's not a prisoner. Doubles with Cassandra Truth.
- Note that this was pretty much invoked by Big Boo, seeking an opportunity to fuck over Linda, and knowing the only person in earshot was the idiot Neo-Nazi who'd think a Spartacus routine would actually get her out of jail.
- It's All My Fault: Taystee realizes she went too far in screwing up negotiations.
- Put on a Bus: The majority of the characters are put on literal buses to separate prisons at the episode's end.
- Screw This, I'm Out of Here!: Chang's response to the raid.
- Unwitting Instigator of Doom: The methheads burn all the prison records, which will probably hurt Linda's arguments that there's no record of her specifically being an inmate.
- Wham Episode: And how! SWAT team is taking Litchfield back, one of the SWAT team members nearly kills an inmate with pepper bullets, and kills Piscatella with one at the end of the episode, not to mention the fact that nearly all of the main characters are standing in the empty pool, holding hands and awaiting their fate as the SWAT team approaches their hiding place.
- Writers Cannot Do Math: The SWAT team states at the end that they are missing ten inmates. Ten are hiding in the pool, two Pennsatucky and Chang have escaped, and there is one extra Linda making eleven.
