Go To

"The Drinks We Drank Last Night" is the twelfth episode of Season 8 of One Tree Hill and originally aired January 25th, 2011. The episode was written by Shaina Fewell and directed by Chad Graves.

After a wild night on the town for Brooke's bachelorette party, the girls have to retrace their steps to figure out what happened to Brooke's engagement ring - and how they wound up with a skateboarding bulldog.

Contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Alcohol-Induced Idiocy: The majority of the episode is the aftermath of Brooke's bachelorette party, and the girls trying to figure out what they got up to during the previous night.
  • Breather Episode: After the high stakes drama of the previous episode, is a suitably silly episode about the girls trying to remember what they go up to on the previous night.
  • Continuity Snarl: Brooke mentions to Haley that she was the one who was always there for Peyton, but Peyton was never there for her. Not only does this ignore that "Prom Night at Hater High" specifically highlighted how bad a friend Brooke had been to Peyton but ignores everything Peyton had done for Brooke over the course of the series - such as signing over her artwork to allow Brooke to start Clothes Over Bro's.
  • Contrived Coincidence: The bulldog abducted by the girls happens to belong to Nathan's college professor.
  • Embarrassing Tattoo: Millicent wakes up with, much to her confusion, a tattoo of a boot on her lower back.
Millicent: Why would I get a boot? Why? Why?!
Haley: Erm, because that tattoo kicks ass.
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Alex lampshades that this is her role within the group, although Quinn asserts that she considers her a friend.
  • Only Sane Man: Haley, who didn't partake in the drinking due to her pregnancy.
  • Punny Name: Professor August Kellerman's dog is named Dogust.
  • Rearrange the Song: This episode’s cover of "I Don’t Want To Be" is performed by Tegan & Sara.
  • Titled After the Song: The episode title is taken from the song "The Drinks We Drank Last Night" by Azure Ray.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: The episode is effectively a toned-down version of The Hangover.
  • Written-In Absence: Brooke explains to Haley that Peyton won't be attending the wedding because Sawyer's sick.
