"There are three reasons anyone does anything: for love, money, or power."
Odds and Ends

Airdates: January 21, 2019 note , April 4, 2018 note

The agents face an unlikely villain and must work together to save the world.

Tropes:

  • Accidental Misnaming: Oprah is consistently referred to as "Ms. O" despite that name being a title referring to a female Director of an Odd Squad precinct rather than an actual name.
  • Affection-Hating Kid: While Otis is this often, he averts the trope this time around, as when he goes to shake hands with Oprah, she tells him to hug her instead, which he does.
  • Ambiguous Time Period: Played with. This episode and the previous episode don't give exact years when it comes to when Otis joined and when the break-ins happened (although it's speculated to be in 2016), but it's revealed that Olympia and Otis began working at Odd Squad on March 4th.
    • It's revealed that the events of the Season 1 finale took place in the span of a day.
  • Answer Cut: As Owen instructs his fellow Security agent to take Otis' and Oprah's things to Todd's villain rehab center, Olympia wonders why the two ex-agents are there. Transition to Todd leading Oprah and Otis down the stairs of his Home for Villains.
  • Artistic License ā€“ Biology: While Otis having the power of Flight is something that can be easily overlooked when it comes to this show, he claims that he flew south for the winter with his duck family. The ducks he grew up with are Pekin ducks, who cannot fly due to being too heavy and don't migrate — hence, the only way Otis would have learned how to fly is if he saw other species of duck who can fly and tried to copy them in some manner.
  • Awesome Moment of Crowning: Oprah isn't accepted back into Precinct 13579 once all is said and done — rather, she is promoted straight to the position of Big O, resulting in an eruption of applause and cheers.
  • Baby Talk: Ohlm uses this at one point towards Olympia.
Ohlm: Ohh! Did wittle old Ohlm take away your gadgets?
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Played with. The X's succeed in their overall goal of getting Otis — whom they've had suspicions of ever since arriving at Precinct 13579 — kicked off of Odd Squad, and it also came with an added bonus: Oprah, who is also kicked off of Odd Squad. They also don't get any sort of karma for their actions, and leave before the true Big Bad can be discovered. Of course, said Big Bad is ultimately defeated by the Main 4 and Otis is let back onto the Squad while Oprah gets promoted, but the X's still don't get their proper comeuppance.
  • Beyond Redemption: Oprah realizes that with Ohlm being an Ungrateful Bastard and still threatening to destroy Odd Squad even after she and the other Main 4 saved his life, he can't be redeemed. As a result, she goes to extremes and brings his parents into the mix, letting them know what their son did and letting them punish him accordingly.
Oprah: I hate to drag parents into it, but sometimes, it's the only way.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Olympia, Otis and Oona, and by extension their respective actors Anna Cathcart, Isaac Kragten and Olivia Presti, all take a permanent leave from the show. Like with the last season finale, it tugged at fans' heartstrings.
    • The Last Words between the Main 4 when Oprah tells Olympia, Otis and Oona what they taught her definitely deserves special mention, as the scene in and of itself is quite the invoked Tear Jerker.
Oprah: Oona, I never thought anyone could come close to filling Oscar's shoes. You taught me sometimes even the boss is wrong.
    Oona: Thank you, ma'am.
Oprah: Otis, you taught me people can change for the better. And lawn bowling.
Otis: It's a fairly simple sport.
Oprah: Olympia, you taught me to always look on the bright side. The way you love Odd Squad made me love it even more.
    [short Beat as Olympia smiles]
Oprah: It's been the honor of my life to work with you. And I've lived a long time. [pause] I'll miss you.
Otis: Us too. [extends his hand out to Oprah]
Oprah: Put that away. And bring it in.
[the Main 4 perform a Group Hug]
  • Borrowed Catchphrase: When Oprah says that Olympia, Otis and Oona taught her things as well, the three agents respond with the same "Whaaaaat?" Catchphrase that Olive and Otto used often back in Season 1.
    • Olympia, Otis and Oona also complete Oprah's "Well, what are you waiting for?" Catchphrase as they, as well as Oprah herself, say "Go!" in unison.
  • Bound and Gagged: The Main 4 end up being restrained by a large Shmumbers brand banana sticker that Ohlm fires at them, trapping them against a wall.
  • The Bus Came Back: Todd, who hasn't been seen since the Made-for-TV Movie World Turned Odd, makes a reappearance in this episode. Unfortunately, this is his final appearance on the show overall, as he is Put on a Bus due to his actor, Joshua Kilimnik, aging.
  • Call-Back: Oprah brings up how Ohlm was partnered with Otto in the Season 1 finale.
    • Olympia uses the water travel mode on her suit to free herself and the rest of the Main 4 from Ohlm's trap.
    • Oona uses her Powered Armor from last episode to save Oprah and Ohlm.
    • The show establishes a trend of the main characters sharing at least one Group Hug at the end of the episode — Oprah shared a hug with Olive, Otto and Oscar at the end of "O is Not For Over", and at the end of this episode, she shares a hug with Olympia, Otis and Oona.
  • The Cameo: Olive, Otto and Oscar, as well as all of the agents present in Seasons 1 and 2, make cameos as pictures that the Main 4 put up when deducing who is sabotaging Precinct 13579. Funny enough, all pictures of agents used are from the now-defunct Wall of Agents section of the Odd Squad website.
  • Continuity Cavalcade: There are quite a few villains present at Todd's Home for Villains that have appeared in past episodes, such as Equal Evan and Kooky Clown.
  • Continuity Nod: When the Big O is about to announce Precinct 13579's new Director, Orchid says to Olympia, "It's probably gonna be me."
  • Darker and Edgier: While "O is Not For Over" did feature Odd Todd manipulating Otto and attempting to drive a wedge in his and Olive's friendship, a climactic battle at the end that resulted in Headquarters nearly getting fully destroyed, and a Rank Up with Olive and Otto becoming Directors, the episode is very tame compared to this season finale (both "Who is Agent Otis?" and this episode) and its dark shift in tone. Of note, Ohlm, the Big Bad, has an ultimate plan to build a black hole out of every single gadget in Precinct 13579's possession in order to create a black hole with enough power to suck every Odd Squad agent into it and kill them, up to and including himself. It definitely wouldn't be the last time the show would veer into this territory either — the Season 3 mid-season finale is also very dark compared to other episodes in the season as well as "O is Not For Over".
  • Defiant to the End: Ohlm absolutely refuses to stop until Odd Squad as an organization is at its knees begging for mercy. Oprah, realizing he is Beyond Redemption, stops him herself...by taking him straight to his parents.
  • Didn't See That Coming: A Played for Laughs variant occurs with Olympia and Oona as they watch Otis reunite with his duck family.
Olympia: Add this to the list of things I thought I'd never see.
    Oona: Not me, actually.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Ohlm suffers from the same fate as Otis' duck family did: he attempts to destroy his enemies, but doesn't realize that he would destroy himself as well until it's too late.
    • Ohlm also states that as an Odd Squad Director, he's in a position to take Odd Squad as an organization down for good. However, he apparently doesn't factor in the Big O, who is higher in rank than him — meaning that if Ohlm wanted to take Odd Squad down, he'd need to somehow defeat the Big O (and his assistants) to succeed.
  • Dishing Out Dirt: One of Todd's clients was a villain known as Captain Earthquake who, true to his name, had the ability to cause earthquakes.
  • Distinction Without a Difference: As Todd approaches Mr. Lightning, this exchange ensues.
Todd: Mr. Lightning, how's that painting coming?
    Mr. Lightning: Bad.
Todd: But not evil. [to Oprah and Otis] That's the difference.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Todd leads the villains in his Home For Villains as though he's a kindergarten teacher, down to doing the "1, 2, 1-2-3" hand-clapping and having a "show-and-yell" rather than a show-and-tell. Him introducing Oprah and Otis is also reminiscent of a teacher introducing new students to their class.
  • Door Slam of Rage: Ohlm does one after being sent to his room.
  • Double Aesop: Like the previous episode, multiple Aesops are tackled: line graphs, number lines and combining (as well as uncombining) gadgets.
  • Dragged by the Collar: Oona attempts to leave Oprah's now-former office when the new Big O states that it's time to say goodbye. Olympia grabs ahold of her and pushes her back before she can get very far.
  • Drunk with Power: Ohlm's primary reason for doing evil is because he was denied a chance to be the Big O after graduating the Academy, and as a result, he threatens to suck every Odd Squad agent into a black hole of his creation as revenge.
  • Dude, Where's My Reward?: The Main 4 risk their lives to stop a villain from creating a black hole and killing everyone who gets sucked into it. What do they get from the Big O? Plates with macaroni art.
    • Averted slightly with Oprah, who not only gets the plate, but also gets a promotion.
  • Dwindling Party: It's implied that Ohlm froze the rest of Precinct 13579's agents one by one, or disabled them in some way so they wouldn't get in the way of his Evil Plan — leaving only the Main 4 to stop him.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Otis, who has been suffering for years fearing that his adoptive duck family will attack him in revenge after he betrayed them, finally gets a chance to apologize for what he's done and reconcile when Oprah (presumably) brings them from where they're being kept in a zoo in Minnesota back to Toronto.
  • Evil Genius: Ohlm is one in a similar realm as Todd — only while Todd wasn't seeking to go any higher than usurping the throne from Oprah, Ohlm wants to become the Big O so he can put his genius to good use.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Olympia, nor Orchid, see anything suspicious in Ohlm telling them that he needs all of their gadgets on their persons up until his Evil Plan is nearly completed.
  • The Fellowship Has Ended: This is the last episode to feature the Main 4 of Season 2 — with Oprah being promoted to the Big O, it's just Otis, Oona and Olympia that remain at Precinct 13579, and Oprah joins Opal, Omar, Oswald and Orla in the next season to make a Main 5 group for Season 3.
  • Flight: Otis is revealed to be able to fly, due to the fact that he migrated south for the winter along with his duck family.
  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul: Ohlm apparently wears glasses. However, they seem to be Purely Aesthetic Glasses, as he's shown seeing fine without them.
  • The Freelance Shame Squad: Todd and the other villains laugh at Oprah's and Otis' repeated denial of them being villainous in any way. Once Kooky Clown pushes them towards a set of chairs, she and the other ex-villains sing a song about being former villains.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: As Todd leads Oprah and Otis away from a wall containing pictures of successful clients, a photo in the bottom right corner shows Todd as he's known today standing next to Todd as he was known in the past.
    • During one of Ohlm's Flashbacks, a nearby Hilton hotel is seen, making it one of the rare few brands to not be covered up by the Shmumbers brand in some way.
  • Freeze-Frame Ending: The episode and the season ends on one of these, with the Main 4 using a variety of gadgets to fight off invading laser chickens.
  • Freeze Ray: Ohlm makes one by combining gadgets #60 and #10 to make the Freeze-inator in order to trap Ozlyn in an ice block.
  • Friendship Moment: The private conversation Otis and Olympia have definitely qualifies. It's quite invoked heartwarming to see the two reconcile after having their friendship be pretty much fractured throughout the episode.
Otis: I'm sorry I didn't tell you the truth sooner.
Olympia: No, I'm sorry I didn't believe you when you did tell the truth.
Otis: [in unison with Olympia] It was just- just a complicated story and I thought if I told you, you'd- you wouldn't want to work with me anymore and I didn't want to stop working with you because I like being an Odd Squad agent-
Olympia: [in unison with Otis; unintelligible] -complicated, you used to be a duck which is crazy, but it doesn't matter because you're still Otis and you like being an Odd Squad agent-
Otis and Olympia: -and the best part is that every day I get to work with my best friend.
[the two smile at each other]
  • Group Hug: In a newly-formed trend for the show, the Main 4 all share one at the end of the episode.
  • Heelā€“Face Turn: The core premise of Todd's Home for Villainsā„¢. It's a place villains can go when they have retired from villainy and want to become good (and apparently go on to sell garage door openers).
    • Brother Quack pulls one near the end of the episode, as he apologizes to Otis for his actions and reconciles with his adopted son.
  • Here We Go Again!: The episode — as well as the season — ends with the Main 4 using various gadgets to fight off a trio of laser chickens that have (somehow) burrowed their way underground to attack Precinct 13579's Headquarters.
  • Hidden Depths: Oona can apparently bake cakes that are large enough to hide people inside of them, in sharp contrast to those like Olympia, who is unable to bake a cake.
  • I Can't Hear You: Subverted. When Professor O states that she won't give Ohlm the position of the Big O right away, Ohlm angrily states he'll destroy Odd Squad. The Professor stops in her tracks and angrily asks, "What did you say?" Ohlm repeats what he said, and then the Professor responds in a more amiable tone that she can't hear him because she has water clogging up her ear from going swimming earlier that day. Eventually Ohlm decides to leave the conversation as is, angrily says, "You'll see. You'll all see!" and walks off.
    • Ohlm later plays the trope straight when Oona worriedly mentions that gadget #10,000 is the Black-Hole-inator, only for him to ask if she can speak up since there's a bad echo in the airplane hangar.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Just like how Otis' duck family was going to get killed by the machine Brother Quack built, Ohlm becomes victim to his own black hole, which threatens to suck him into it up until Oprah goes to save him. She even lampshades how Ohlm will get sucked into it a second before he pushes the button to activate it.
  • Idiot Ball: Oona juggles it consistently throughout the episode — sometimes she'll have moments of intelligence, and other times she'll be a complete idiot.
  • "I Know What We Can Do" Cut: When Ohlm refuses to give up in his mission to destroy Odd Squad, Oprah says that there's only one thing left to do. Cut to Ohlm's house, where his parents react in surprise when told what he's done.
  • Instant Costume Change: The Big O invokes this trope via the use of various gadgets throughout the episode.
    • He uses the Mr. O-inator on Ohlm to swap his Investigation uniform out for a male Director's uniform.
    • He uses the same gadget Oprah used in the previous episode (as well as past episodes) to strip Otis of his civilian clothes and put him in an Investigation agent's uniform at the end of the episode.
    • He uses a gadget presumably known as the Big O-inator to swap Oprah's civilian clothes out for a proper Big O uniform shortly after Otis is re-hired onto Precinct 13579.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: When Jamie Jam is finished presenting her mug during Show and Yell, Todd leans down and assures Oprah that his Home for Villains is a safe place. Not a second later and Olympia and Oona emerge via tube entrance, shout their typical "Odd Squad, Odd Squad, stop right there" Catchphrase, and cause the villains to panic.
  • It's All My Fault: Orchid's constant belittling of Olympia and how she got Oprah and Otis fired from Odd Squad causes her to kick herself over them being fired, even quoting the trope name verbatim at one point as she laments how the precinct is destroyed.
  • Karma Houdini: The X's don't receive any sort of karma for what they've done to Precinct 13579 and their agents over the course of the second half of the season, nor do they receive punishment for being incorrect about Oprah and Otis being villains and helping out other villains.
    • Ohlm, however, does get karma in the form of his parents grounding him and sending him to his room, and he is not happy about it.
  • Kids Prefer Boxes: It's revealed that the only possession Otis has in Odd Squad is a cardboard box. (Perhaps it served as a nest for him to replace the one he used to sleep in.)
  • Lazy Bum: Owen, by God, Owen. While it's well-known that he goes on break often, this episode reveals that he goes on break for entire days at a time, or what is known to many as "taking a day off". Even Oprah herself realizes that she needs to start reprimanding him properly.
Oprah: I gotta get that under control...
  • Literal Metaphor: Oona says that finding who the Big Bad agent is will be a "piece of cake". When the others chastise her for thinking it'll be easy, she clarifies by wheeling out a cart with cake slices on it and offering it to the others, saying that she thought they could eat while they worked.
  • Medium Awareness: The Couch Gag in the opening theme has Olympia saying that "this is the end of our story". She's not wrong, as this episode marks the final appearances of her, Oona and Otis. note
  • Motive Rant: Ohlm goes on one when Oprah asks him why he turned against Odd Squad. However, special mention goes to this gem of a line that he gives the Main 4 before he launches into his motives.
Ohlm: There are three reasons anyone does anything: for love, money...or power. Odd Squad agents don't get paid, love gives you the cooties, and so the answer must be...power. [Evil Laugh]
  • Multi-Part Episode: The fourth and final one of Season 2.
  • Musical Number Annoyance: Otis and Oprah are mostly left confused by the Villain Song that Todd and the other ex-villains sing, but when Todd tells them to sing a song about their feelings, Oprah is not happy and lets out one of her trademark growls.
  • Never Say "Die": Of course, this trope is played straight — any instances of dying are covered up by using the word "destroy" instead.
    • The show also has a variant of the trope, only with any words related to a lack of intelligence like "dumb" or "stupid" rather than death-related words and phrases — the episode, and by extension the show, goes to incredible lengths to avoid using those two words in particular, with the go-to phrase being "not smart" or some variation of it (although "fool" is slipped in a few times). This seems to be network policy for PBS Kids, as other shows on the network follow the same rule when it's applicable.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: The X's sticking Oona with all of the paperwork involved with Otis' trial allows her to see that they made a mistake in assuming that Otis is working with the villains and is the cause of the villain break-ins, which in turn allows her and Olympia to prove them innocent.
  • Noodle Incident: When Oprah says that sometimes the only way to resolve things is to drag parents into it, everyone else agrees, but Oona responds with something a little different: "You're telling me."
  • Nothing Is the Same Anymore: The Big O is stepping down from his position, Oprah is now the Big O, Orson is the new Director of Precinct 13579, and Olympia, Otis and Oona are all Put on a Bus. Similarly, this is the last episode where Precinct 13579's Headquarters is the main setting of the show, as the primary setting is shifted to the Mobile Unit Van following its creation in the Season 3 premiere.
  • Now That's Using Your Teeth!: Since he's using his arms as wings, Otis grabs gadget #5 with his teeth instead, deactivating the Black-Hole-inator.
  • Offscreen Teleportation: Oona does this right after Otis and Olympia share a Friendship Moment, holding a cake in her hands.
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten: Xavier invokes this by encouraging agents to take their grief over Oprah and Otis being fired straight to Olympia, since she was the one who got them kicked out. Orchid in particular has no problem with repeatedly reminding her new partner about it, and even Ohlm even gets in on it (although for him it's justified, since he's a villain).
Orchid: Can you help me with this?
Olympia: Why are you wearing a life jacket?
Orchid: I wanna be ready when you throw me overboard like your last partner.
  • Playing Sick: Oona invokes this by pondering whether Otis was really sick on March 17th or if he faked it to take a holiday off.
  • Pre-Mortem One-Liner: Ohlm may be a villain, but he does have some nice one-liners.
Ozlyn: I feel like you're evil.
Ohlm: I feel like you're right. [freezes Ozlyn and performs his Evil Laugh]
  • Pronouncing My Name for You: Mr. Ohlm tells the Main 4 that his first and last name is pronounced "Ohlm". Olympia in particular doesn't get it.
  • Put on a Bus: A lot of agents from the past two seasons board the bus, save Orchid and Coach O. Otis also boards the bus and is never seen again after this season, while Olympia would get a vocal cameo in Season 2 of OddTube with Orla as host and Oona would get a vocal cameo in a couple episodes of the Odd Squadcast.
    • The trope is averted for a majority of the villains, however, as a lot of them (such as Freeze Ray Ray, Equal Evan, and Kooky Clown) stick around for Season 3.
  • Rank Up: Ohlm is promoted as Director of Precinct 13579 in Oprah's place following her being fired. Since Ohlm is, of course, Too Dumb to Live, this doesn't sit well with any agent. Likewise, Orchid becomes Olympia's partner in his place.
    • Oprah is promoted to the position and role of the Big O following the previous Big O's retirement, as he wishes to attend kindergarten. In her place, Orson is promoted to Director of Precinct 13579.
  • Reflexive Response: When Ohlm states his firm intention to bring Odd Squad to its knees, Olympia instinctively reaches into her Hammerspace spine and goes to retrieve the Handcuff-inator. However, since Ohlm took that gadget along with her other gadgets, she is left defenseless — something he is aware of, as he subverts the trope by instinctively crouching in fear, only for it to be revealed that he's faking it because he knows Olympia doesn't have the gadget.
  • Riddle for the Ages: Odd Squad agents apparently don't get paid, making the mystery on how they can support themselves financially grow even further.
  • Sassy Black Woman: The Puppy Master slips into this when talking with Ohlm.
  • Save the Villain: Seconds after Ohlm activates the Black-Hole-inator, the Main 4 make a run for it. He attempts to as well, but can't run fast enough, and starts to get sucked in. While the rest of the agents shelter behind a small wall, Oprah pulls a small pole out of the wall and goes to save Ohlm, sticking the pole into a floor vent for leverage and having him grab onto his hand. However, even though she ultimately risks her life to save him, he's still an Ungrateful Bastard about it, often complaining about how her hand is sweaty and still acting antagonistic to the agents after the black hole is defeated.
  • Series Fauxnale: This episode has Oprah being promoted to the role of the Big O and has her presumably leaving the show for good, going to work at the Big Office in the previous Big O's stead, which would make her the last remaining member of the original Main 4 (out of Olive, Otto and Oscar) to leave the show. It also ends on the Season 2 Main 4 going to fight oddness one last time before Oprah's departure. However, Season 3 was greenlit 2 months after this episode premiered in the United States, and as a result, the show was retooled to include Oprah as the Big O in a core cast of 5 agents instead of 4, along with a set and theme change to "breathe new life" into the show, according to Tim McKeon.
  • Ship Tease: There's quite a bit of it to be found with Otis and Olympia, especially during their Friendship Moment.
  • Shout-Out: The thumbs-up on Oona's cake looks strikingly similar to the Facebook "like" button.
  • Skewed Priorities: Oona is freed from Ohlm's trap thanks to Olympia's efforts, and decides to engage the rest of the Main 4 in a game of I Spy.
  • Sphere of Power: The Black-Hole-inator is powered by all 10,000 gadgets making a sphere-shaped structure. When activated, a purple sphere forms inside of the structure, which turns yellow when the structure is imbalanced.
  • Stealth Hi/Bye: Oona does this, appearing right next to Olympia and managing to scare her.
  • Suddenly Fluent in Gibberish: Oprah is perfectly capable of understanding Orson's gurgles and other Baby Talk. Unfortunately, none of the other Main 3 can.
  • Suddenly Shouting: "Show and Yell" is like show and tell, but with more yelling. Thus, this trope comes into effect quite often — Todd goes from quietly asking Jamie Jam to begin "Show and Yell" to her yelling about how she made a mug.
    • Ohlm also does this at one point while on his Motive Rant.
  • Supreme Chef: Oona has the ability to bake cakes. How big she can make them, though, depends on the flavor — in the case of vanilla, it's three layers.
Oprah: When you said huge...you were right, Oona.
  • Surprisingly Creepy Moment: The episode takes a turn into being outright creepy at one point, with Oona whispering for Olympia to meet her in the lab followed by the two agents ducking under one of the lab's countertops with unsettling looks on their faces.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: As Ohlm announces over the loudspeaker in the elevator to turn in all gadgets to him, Otis asks in bewilderment if it's Ohlm speaking. Olympia's response is a despaired "Yes", while Oona shivers in fright every time she mentions that he is an Odd Squad Director now.
  • Tired After the Song: The Villain Song Todd sings along with the other villains leaves him a little out of breath, but it doesn't affect him too much as he tells Oprah and Otis to sing a song about their feelings.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Ohlm, natch — to such an extent that it's implied that he frequently gets lost in his own workplace despite having worked there for a while.
  • Tradesnarkā„¢: Todd tacks on a "trademark" when reciting the name of his villain rehab home.
  • Trojan Horse: The Main 4 have one in the form of a cake that Oona has baked, with Oprah and Otis inside of it. They don't use it for attack purposes; rather, they use it to sneak Oprah and Otis into Precinct 13579.
  • Tropaholics Anonymous: It's revealed that in addition to a villain rehabilitation garden, Odd Todd also runs a center for villains who wish to become good, which is situated in a rather large mansion-like building, known as Todd's Home for Villains. Oprah and Otis are forced to attend as punishment at the Big O's behest, lest he shuts down Precinct 13579. It's also implied that the building serves as the villains' home, and as a result, it serves as a temporary home for Oprah and Otis as well.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Ohlm doesn't even bother to thank the Main 4 for saving his life. Not only that, but he is consistently complaining about Oprah's sweaty hand as she's saving him.
Ohlm: Eww, your hand is sweaty!
    Oprah: I'm saving you!
Ohlm: Can you do it without sweating so much?

Ohlm: [to Oona, wearing her Powered Armor] Eww, your robot hand is sweaty too!
Oona: You've got the sweaty hands, that's the problem!
  • Unrealistic Black Hole: Ohlm manages to create the Black-Hole-inator using every single gadget in Precinct 13579's arsenal. It doesn't look like your average black hole, and Oprah and Ohlm prevent themselves from flying into it by the former holding onto a pole rooted into a floor vent while the latter grips the former's hand. Oona also prevents herself from flying into it via her armor suit; meanwhile, Olympia and Otis aren't affected at all, even when the latter flies close to it to retrieve the gadget needed to turn it off.
  • Villain Song: "Say You Did Wrong", as it's commonly referred to as by fans (since the song has No Title like all other Season 2 songs), is sung by Todd and the other villains about them pulling Heel-Face Turns as an attempt to snap Oprah and Otis out of their denial about them not being villains. It's got a Broadway musical theme to it, gives Joshua Kilimnik a chance to to be invoked The Cast Showoff with his singing voice, and is definitely one of the more invoked awesome songs to come out of the series.
  • Wham Episode: Par for the course given that this is a Season Finale.
    • Ohlm is revealed to have been Obfuscating Stupidity for the entirety of the season, becoming the Big Bad and creating a black hole that will suck in (and effectively kill) every Odd Squad agent.
  • Wham Line: Ohlm revealing himself as the true Big Bad of Season 2.
Otis: No, it can't be Ohlm. Ohlm is...Ohlm. He eats yogurt with the wrong end of the spoon.
Oona: He's messed up every case he's ever been on.
Ohlm: So you'd never suspect me.
    • Oprah becoming the Big O.
Big O: For far too long, I have put off going to kindergarten, but now it is time, and I need someone to take my place.
    Oprah: Wait. Are you saying...
Big O: I want you to run all Odd Squads as the new Big O!
[applause and cheers as the Big O changes Oprah into a Big O uniform]
  • Wham Shot: Otis extending his arms and flapping them, revealing he has the ability to fly.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Make no mistake, the agents of Precinct 13579 are not happy with the Big O for his decision to promote Ohlm, of all people, to the rank of Odd Squad Director. They also aren't happy with the new Director giving out ideas that scream Captain Obvious, such as only allowing kids to work at the precinct.
    • The rest of the Main 4 give Oona a small taste of this when she believes that finding the agent who is destroying Precinct 13579 was the bad guy will be easy. She then clarifies to mean that she was offering them a piece of cake.
  • Who Names Their Kid "Dude"?: It's revealed that Ohlm's full name is Ohlm Ohlm — as in, the same first and last name. When Olympia asks about it, Mrs. Ohlm (his mother) says that it's a family name, while Mr. Ohlm (his father) says to pronounce it...well, like it sounds: Ohlm.
  • Worldbuilding: This episode introduces a rather large file room for Precinct 13579, and judging by the amount of boxes, it contains files on every single Odd Squad agent in existence, sorted by department.
  • Wrong Assumption: When Olympia checks a folder and says that Orchid was in Headquarters for the majority of March 13 and 14, Oona throws the folder she's holding on the ground and immediately declares that Orchid is the agent sabotaging Precinct 13579. Of course, she could not be more wrong.
  • You Are Grounded!: Ohlm's parents ground him for his actions and send him to his room. Of course, Ohlm isn't a happy camper, and it's implied that he's been grounded numerous times before.
  • Youth Is Wasted on the Dumb: The Big O is a child that is younger than a majority of, if not all of, the agents at Precinct 13579 — and yet, he names Ohlm, known for being incredibly stupid, as Oprah's successor, despite him saying that there are many who are more than capable of being a competent Director. Why does he do this? Because Ohlm gave him an action figure. This promotion benefits virtually no one but Ohlm himself, as he is revealed to the Big Bad whose new position allows him to move forward with his Evil Plan. Once the Main 4 defeat him, the Big O names Oprah to be his successor.
