Enid gets a visit from her Ghoul School friends.

Tropes:

  • Aesop Amnesia: K.O. complains that Enid should have already learned a lesson about hiding her true self from friends and family back in "Parents' Day".
K.O.: Come on, Enid! You already had this arc!
  • Ambiguously Gay: In Sibella's demonstration of her vampire powers, she pantomimes dancing with and biting a swarm of bats in the shape of a person of ambiguous gender, and also blushes as she greets Enid. It's worth noting that Sibella's voice actor Susan Blu is a lesbian herself.
  • Art Shift:
    • Enid's flashback to when she was attending Ghoul School has the Grimwood Girls in their original designs from the movie, and Enid has a new one matching its art style.
    • One gag has Elsa, Phantasma, and Sibella's bewildered expressions make them look like Ed, Edd n Eddy.
  • Barrage of Bats: Sibella shows off this skill as the girls are presenting all the talents they’ve developed over the years.
  • Be Yourself: Enid learns (again) that it’s always better to be yourself and that your real friends will accept you no matter what.
  • Bishie Sparkle: Bernard's human form glitters.
  • Caged Inside a Monster: Enid accidentally turns a tree into a monster, which swallows Winnie and Tanis, making its mouth like prison bars.
  • Canis Latinicus: Enid recites a snippet of "lorem ipsum" to cast her magic spell.
  • Chummy Mummy: Tanis is still a very Nice Girl and politely asks K.O. if he could cut a slice of cake for her.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Rad is seen with the mask from "We've Got Fleas" off and scrambles to put it back on while talking to Enid. Reminding the audience that he, Enid and K.O are all were-creatures in disguises.
    • K.O. notes that Enid's Character Arc in this episode is something that she's already gone through, specifically in the episode "Parents’ Day.”
    • Cool Moon has bandages since Cosma blew him up in "Villains' Night Out."
  • Crossover: The girls from Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School arrive to reminisce with Enid about Miss Grimwood's school. Elsa, Phantasma, and Sibella are played by their original voice actresses.
  • Dance Party Ending: The episode ends with the characters dancing in a Thriller-esque style to a Halloween rap by Rad. The whole sequence in general evokes the dance party ending from the Grimwood Girls' own movie with Rad's rap in particular sounding very much like Scrappy's.
  • Demonic Possession: Phantasma does this twice: once to K.O. to show off her powers, and then to the tree monster to slow him down so the other girls can rescue Tanis and Winnie.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: It's not exactly difficult to read Enid hiding her ninja powers from her friends as a metaphor for being afraid to come out. Right down to an embarrassing magazine being found that would out someone.
  • Eaten Alive: Enid uses a spell to make a tree come to life, which swallows Tanis & Winnie and starts dancing around.
  • Everybody Already Knew: Even back before she transferred, Enid's friends knew she wanted to be a ninja instead of a witch—she was a Bad Liar about being interested in spooky things, and left her ninja-related paraphernalia lying around.
  • Foreshadowing: Right after Phantasma refers to her as their witch, Enid makes a quick cloud of smoke before donning a typical witch appearance and nervously agreeing with her. Sibella muses she hasn't changed a bit. This hints that the girls are aware she's not as much of a witch as she claims to be.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: At one point when Bernard and Wilhamena are dancing around Enid there is a mirror in the background, and Wilhamena has a Missing Reflection.
  • Friendly Ghost: Phantasma is still the happy-go-lucky Cute Ghost Girl from her first appearance.
  • Friendly Neighborhood Vampire: Sibella is every bit a Nice Girl as in her original appearance, just like the rest of her friends. And of course, Wilhamena is as chipper and cordial as ever.
  • Gratuitous Rap: Much like the “Ghoul School” movie, the episode ends with everyone dancing to a silly rap number. Unlike Scrappy-Doo, however, Rad’s not half bad at it.
  • Halloween Episode: Halloween themed like the last episode set around Enid's house, though it doesn't seem to be set then—Rad's rap saying "it's Halloween" appears to just be him Breaking the Fourth Wall.
  • Humans Are Ugly: Bernard treats his transformation into a handsome, sparkling human like he's turned into a hideous abomination, while his wife puts a Brown Bag Mask over his head.
  • Ignoring by Singing: Enid does this when K.O. tries to point out that she shouldn’t pretend to be something she’s not.
  • Inept Mage: Enid tries to pretend she is still a witch, but since she hasn't practiced in years, she is rusty. When she tries to demonstrate a spell, she misses repeatedly, then brings a tree to life and can't undo it.
  • Jump Scare: Bernard pranks Enid by spooking her while she is focused on her phone, to her annoyance.
  • Lampshade Hanging: When Enid continues to hide the truth from her Ghoul School friends, K.O. protests to her that she already had this Character Arc.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Elsa claims she and the others haven’t seen Enid in “a million years,” a likely nod to the fact that this episode is the first time the Ghoul School girls have appeared in anything since their debut three decades prior.
  • Literal Metaphor: While Rad is being Innocently Insensitive to Enid and wondering how her Ghoul School friends will react to her being a ninja now, a scene plays in which Rad is planting a seed with the word “doubt” on it in Enid’s brain.
  • Losing Your Head: A brief visual gag has KO, Boris, and Icky taking off their heads and swapping them around.
  • Lunacy: The full moon turns Bernard from a humanoid wolf to a human.
  • The Man in the Moon: Cool Moon has a smiling face, sunglasses, arms with White Gloves on his hands, and bandaids on the top of his head.
  • Michael Jackson's Thriller Parody: The dance moves at the end are very Thriller-esque.
  • Monster Mash: What do you expect in an episode featuring Enid's family and the Grimwood Girls?
  • Mood Whiplash: Enid declares to the Grimwood Girls that she's a ninja and proud of it — before going down on her knees, apologizing to her friends for lying and begging for forgiveness.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Enid was willing to show off to the Grimwood Girls that she's a ninja, (rightfully) assuming they're going to like the real her. And then Rad hecks things up by suggesting to her that they may not accept her due to them expecting her to be a witch, which K.O. calls him out for.
  • Ninja Log: Enid turns into a log when Sibella in her bat form picks her up to help stop the tree monster.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Rad is shown on video phone in the middle of a variety of bizarre situations, including a moon landing and in prison.
  • Oh, Crap!: Enid pulls of a number of increasingly detailed and distorted reaction shots as the situation grows worse.
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: It turns out Bernard becomes a human when exposed to the full moon, in a reversal to the usual modern werewolf portrayal. This is also treated as some sort of hideous transformation, even though Bernard's human form is anything but hideous. Meanwhile, the full moon doesn't seem to have any effect on Winnie (who was never shown with a human form to begin with).
  • Real Men Wear Pink: Bernard is shown to enjoy gardening, and is very protective of his plants.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Bernard's transformation into a human is similar to The Beast's transformation into a human at the end of Beauty and the Beast.
    • The characters dance like the zombies in the Thriller video at the end.
    • The Grim Reaper on the magazine the girls are gushing about is Grim from The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy.
    • At one point, Elsa, Phantasma, and Sibella are drawn to resemble Ed, Edd n Eddy, respectively.
    • Of course, there are several to the movie, Scooby-Doo and the Ghoul School:
      • The Ghoul School girls are still volleyball players.
      • The Grimwood Girls come just shy of namedropping Shaggy and Scooby, referring to them as "that weird guy with the great dane".
      • All the Ghoul Girls Took a Level in Badass, with Sibella, apparently, being the most powerful. This was already referenced in their debut movie, with the Big Bad saying they had potential to outmatch their parents, and Sibella being the hardest to capture.
  • Special Edition Title: The credits have an instrumental version of Rad's Halloween rap over a display of concept art of the Grimwood Girls from their original movie.
  • Spoof Aesop: Said in sync by Enid and K.O. at the end:
    Enid: Never listen to Rad!
    K.O.: Always listen to K.O.!
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Enid looks through her old spell book to find something she can use to convince her friends she's still a witch. Since she hasn't opened it in years, let alone use it, she doesn't remember how to read the symbols anymore.
  • Take That!: Bernard's "hideous" human form sparkles and has no shirt.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: Both Bernard and Wilhamena when the former gets exposed to the full moon, after breaking through their bedroom window in an attempt to save his garden from a fire.
Bernard: Oh, cob dang it. (Face Palms)
Wilhamena: (with her hand to her forehead) Oh, honey.
  • Took a Level in Badass: All the Ghoul Girls have become much more powerful, specially Sibella.
  • Totem Pole Trench: K.O., Icky, and Boris do this and hand a bowl of eyeballs to Enid while they’re the same height as her. They can be seen wearing it again in the dance party at the end of the episode.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Rad was the one who instilled doubt in Enid and convinced her to hide her being a ninja.
  • Vocal Evolution: Of the three girls whose actresses reprise their roles, only Elsa sounds relatively the same. Likely due to Russi Taylor being older, Phantasma's voice is less shrill. Meanwhile, Sibella's voice doesn't come off as seductive as it used to be.
  • Wingdinglish: What Enid’s spell book is written in. Apparently she can’t read it either.
  • Wonderful Werewolf: Besides Bernard being his amicable self (unless if you threaten his garden), Winnie makes her return here and is still the friendly lycanthrope.
