Recap / OK K.O.! Le'ts Be Heroes S 2 E 10 T.K.O.'s House

Go To

T.K.O. wants answers from Shadowy Figure, so K.O. decides to help him.

Tropes:

  • Achilles' Power Cord: Just as P.K.O. is about to lay the smackdown on Shadowy Figure, T.K.O. accidentally unplugs himself from the synchronizing device. K.O. points this out, but by the time he is plugged back in, Shadowy Figure is gone.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: When T.K.O. questions Shadowy Figure on why he was created, he said he needed him to infiltrate the area under the plaza to obtain the glorbs. T.K.O. doesn't buy it because then he questions why does he know so much about K.O. and why does he always look satisfied when K.O. is winning their fights. Shadowy Figure drops his smug attitude and remains silent, and when T.K.O. temporary loses control of K.O.'s body, Shadowy Figure leaves the area without saying a word.
  • As You Know: Parodied when K.O. briefly breaks character as he looks to the camera and explains who T.K.O. is.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: A more low-key version, but unlike the last time K.O. and Shadowy Figure faced off in the glorb tree room—where K.O. was losing the fight pretty much the whole time, but then "won" by virtue of preventing Shadowy from taking any glorbs with him—this time, while Perfect K.O. does better in the fight, Shadowy ultimately "wins" since he gets many glorbs (which is what he came for) and leaves the area on his own terms.
  • Banana Peel: Shadowy Figure uses one on P.K.O. when he's trying to get up.
  • Berserk Button: Shadowy Figure serves as one for T.K.O.
  • Big Ball of Violence: When K.O. and T.K.O. fight each other.
  • Bloodless Carnage: Averted. When K.O. and T.K.O synch up they both get a nosebleed and there is also visible blood when P.K.O spits out a tooth.
  • Call-Back: K.O. and T.K.O. look over mental photos of Shadowy Figure from the last time they encountered him, which was in a box marked with that episode's production code and the Cartoon Network logo.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion: While P.K.O. still isn't able to do much damage to Shadowy Figure (who, like last time, dodges him, catches his punches, and sends him flying and nearly knocks him out), he does do better this time since he's a result of K.O. and T.K.O. working together. They manage to slam into Shadowy, knock him over, and pin him to the ground this time. They only lose because T.K.O.'s cable comes unplugged, temporarily knocking out P.K.O. long enough for Shadowy to get away.
  • Desperately Looking for a Purpose in Life: T.K.O.'s focus on getting answers from Shadowy Figure and his overall frustrations with K.O. come from the fact that he has no idea why he was created.
  • Exact Words: Shadowy technically wasn't lying when he told P.K.O. that he needed to access the Lakewood Tree to sell Glorbs. Season 3's "Let's Get Shadowy" reveals Foxtail was buying Glorbs from him.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: In a Freeze-Frame Bonus, when T.K.O. zooms in on "Shadowy Figure" at the beginning of the episode in K.O.'s peripheral vision, eagle-eyed viewers will notice that "Shadowy"'s nose is more pointy and beak-shaped than it was in his previous appearances, indicating that it's not really him.
  • Mental World: The world inside K.O.'s head now has a little house for T.K.O. to live in. When K.O. visits, he can make anything he imagines.
  • Mistaken from Behind: T.K.O. thinks he saw Shadowy Figure in the Bodega, and takes over K.O.'s body to follow him and attack. Turns out it was Pird wearing a black trench coat. Judging from K.O.'s remarks, this wasn't the first time something like this has happened.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Though the episode doesn't actually address it at all. The last time K.O. faced off against Shadowy Figure, he successfully (if mostly by accident) kept Shadowy from taking any glorbs with him, and he and Mr. Gar sealed the door back up to keep it that way. Here, though, in their search for answers, K.O. and T.K.O pretty much undo everything from last time by breaking the door down again, which lets Shadowy back in, and this time he successfully gathers and leaves with a large number of glorbs.
  • Punch Catch: Once again, Shadowy Figure does a couple of these to P.K.O.
  • Psychic Nosebleed: K.O. and T.K.O. get one when they hook up.
  • Ring-Ring-CRUNCH!: T.K.O. starts his day by smashing a Succulentus alarm clock.
  • Sequel Episode:
    • To Let's Have a Stakeout. K.O. (this time together with T.K.O.) once again breaks into the room with the glorb tree, giving Shadowy Figure access to it in the process, and the two of them once again have a battle there.
    • To a lesser extent, to You're in Control as well, being T.K.O.'s first proper reappearance since that episode and showing how he's been doing living in K.O.'s mind after their bargain.
  • Spit Take: T.K.O. when he thinks he sees Shadowy Figure.
  • Synchronization: K.O. and T.K.O hook themselves up to a device K.O. saw in a movie so they can combine their strengths to fight Shadowy Figure.
