Go To

When Boxman deploys a new threat, K.O. must turn to an old enemy for help.

Tropes:

  • Battle in the Center of the Mind: K.O. and T.K.O. struggle against each other inside K.O.'s head. K.O. eventually wins by letting T.K.O. out of his cage and giving him a punching bag to channel his desire to fight and at the same time harness his energy.
  • Betrayal by Offspring: Boxmore is betrayed by Darrell when he tattles on him to the Board of Investors and is made the new CEO.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • K.O. and Dendy are still trying to harness T.K.O.'s power.
    • When making Boxman Jr, Boxman uses the biochip Venomous gave him for his "ultimate weapon alive" for Boxman Jr. It explains why he is so powerful.
    • Boxman promises to throw Darrell into the furnace for disrespecting Jr. at his funeral, which was what he did in "Let's Be Friends".
  • Cooldown Hug: How Dendy, Rad and Enid bring K.O. back.
  • Cranial Eruption: Enid and Rad have bumps on their heads after being beaten by Boxman Jr.
  • Deal with the Devil: K.O. makes one with T.K.O., T.K.O. gets out of the cage and gets to use a punching bag to let out his aggression in their head, while K.O. gets to use it in the physical world.
  • Double-Meaning Title: "You're In Control" can refer both to K.O. getting a hold on his Superpowered Evil Side and Darrell taking control of Box More.
  • Eyelid Pull Taunt: Boxman Jr. taunts the plaza defenders with this.
  • Godzilla Threshold: Boxman Jr. is so powerful that the only way to stop him is K.O. transforming into T.K.O.
  • Goo-Goo-Godlike: Boxman Jr. proves strong enough to defeat Mr. Gar and Carol with little effort. K.O. has to summon T.K.O. to fight him on equal footing.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Boxman's habit of Parental Favoritism, his using of Darrel to get his work done while building Jr., and Jr.'s own fight with T.K.O. through Boxmore end up getting him fired and replaced by Darrel as CEO of Boxmore.
  • Hurl It into the Sun: Once his investors find out Jr. and T.K.O.'s battle destroyed Box More HQ, Lord Boxman is fired... from a cannon, into the sun.
  • Infant Sibling Jealousy: Darrell is incredibly jealous of Boxman Jr., but unlike most examples, he's entirely right that Lord Boxman is favoring the new child—he openly admits such. It's certainly not a surprise.
  • Irony: Boxman Jr, Boxman's latest and greatest attempt to destroy the plaza ended up destroying Boxmore during his fight with K.O.
  • Killed Off for Real: The funeral at the end implies that Boxman Jr. was permanently destroyed by K.O.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Boxman's first act in the series was to throw Darrell into a furnace for failing him, and has been using him to basically run Boxmore while he works on Boxman Jr. In the end Darrell fires him into the sun after ratting him out to the board and becomes the new CEO.
  • Last Disrespects: Darrell preludes his betrayal of Boxman by showing up to Boxman Jr.'s funeral celebrating while wearing his sailor suit.
  • The Last Straw: The board finally have enough of Boxman's antics when Boxman Jr's fight with T.K.O. demolishes most of Boxmore.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: When Boxman is launched at the sun, he passes by the overlaying text from the intro. A part of the intro's song also plays when he flies by.
  • Magically-Binding Contract: The deal K.O. and T.K.O. make is implied to be this, given the chains forming around their handshake.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: While trying to keep K.O. from transforming into T.K.O., Enid and Rad have the ingenious idea of reminding him he's just a kid who isn’t even level 1 yet. Unsurprisingly, that's when K.O finally accumulates enough anger to transform.
  • Not So Harmless Punishment: After being found out for making a mess of things in the Plaza and Boxmore, Lord Boxman is told by Cosma that he's fired, to which Boxman retorts that he doesn't care about that anymore...until she points out that he's literally getting fired into the sun, to his consternation.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: When K.O. turned down a chance to hang out with Rad and Enid, they got suspicious.
  • Opening Shout-Out: When Lord Boxman is fired out of the cannon toward the sun, he flies through the show logo in front of the Earth that K.O. destroys during the opening credits.
  • Pass the Popcorn: Lord Boxmore and the other robots sit in a theater eating popcorn as they watch Boxman Jr. fight K.O.
  • Pet the Dog: Cosma takes a moment to reassure the Boxmore robots after Boxman gets fired into the sun.
  • The Power of Friendship: Carol tries to invoke this but fails.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Split-Personality Team: K.O. initially lets T.K.O. have control to fight Jr., but they come to another agreement: K.O. can use T.K.O.'s power (at least once), while T.K.O. can roam free in their mindscape (the ending implying he'll have a lesser effect on K.O.'s normal personality) and gets a punching bag.
  • The Starscream: Jealous of Boxman Junior, Darrell rats Lord Boxman out the board, fires him into the sun, and takes control of Boxmore.
  • Theme Music Power-Up: When K.O. uses T.K.O.'s power to finally defeat Boxman Jr., an instrumental version of the show's theme plays.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: Darrel wants Lord Boxman to respect him, so he tries to prove to him how evil he can be... by betraying him and taking over Boxmore.
  • Wham Episode: K.O. and T.K.O. come to a (likely temporary) agreement to share their power, K.O. levels up to level 1, and Boxman is ousted from Boxmore, losing control of it to Darrell.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Rad and Enid give this to K.O after finding out he has been trying in secret to control T.K.O..
    • Dendy gives them a short version of it by deadpanning they weren’t thinking when they tried to stop them without listening.
  • You Have Failed Me: After Boxman's latest attempt to destroy Lakewood Plaza Turbo backfires horribly and leads to Boxmore getting wrecked, the board of directors declare they've had enough of Boxman's antics and have him fired.
  • Zeroth Law Rebellion: Darrell determines that to be truly evil, he should betray and depose Boxman.
