- Call-Back: K.O. pops out onto the wrestling ring with his spiffy tuxedo outfit from Plaza Prom offering apple cider refreshments to simmer down Enid and Rad's flower duel. Anyone interested in some more hors dowr-vres?
- Exotic Eye Design: Cupid's left eye's pupil is a pink heart. His all-remembering "Eye of Loveyou" releases an optic pink laser beam that evokes a flashback inducing sequence onto his subjects, which dilate their pupils with the same pink hearts.
- Good Angel, Bad Angel: Parodied; Mega Football Baby and Bell Beefer appear as two shoulder devils on Rad to ill advise him on how to "win" his date with Enid. Unfortunately for Enid, Rad's shoulder devils view Enid as an end-all victory trophy to dating girls. Their goading leads Rad to adopt a numbskull personage.Rad: Shouldn't one of you guys be on the other side?
Devil Bell Beefer: Maybe you should've looked for dating advice from someone who wasn't a teenage boy. - Lethal Lava Land: Rad and Enid perform their second first date atop an active lava pit.
- Real Men Wear Pink:
- Cupid's pink toga attire, crimson "Wub" heart tattoo, and his pink heart shaped laser gun significantly contrasts with his macho man appearance. It's naturally fitting to his character, being the main messenger of love.
- Radicles is seen wearing fuchsia pants and pink socks during the flashback. He's suited up in fuchsia for his second first date with Enid.
- Redundant Romance Attempt: It's revealed in a flashback that Enid used to have a crush on Rad in middle school. He was a lot less macho and narcissistic than he is today. However, he gets bad advice from his friends and acts like a jerk for most of their first date, therefore ruining whatever chance at romance they could have had. Even after realizing he blew it and would have had a better shot if he had been himself, his friends convince him to deny any responsibility and "double down." Now Enid is extremely cynical but has a rather odd, platonic friendship with Rad.
- Rebel Relaxation: Enid attempts to lean into the ropes after beating Rad in their battle. Trouble is, the ropes had been blown away during the fight, and she falls into the lava pit, saved only by Rad's levitation powers.
- Ship Sinking: Invoked twice.
- When K.O. is told that Enid/Rad isn't going to happen, Rad says "Sorry for sinking your ship".
- By the climatic resolve of Enid and Rad's second first date, Cupid realizes the dynamic Enid/Rad display is energized by their established platonic solidarity for one another. Cupid explains to K.O. the duo is an inspirational example of The Power of Friendship and that he erred in his views of them needing to further expand on their close bond with the The Power of Love.

- During the flashback of Rad and Enid's first date, a trinket of Naruto is seen latched onto Enid's flip phone.
- Some of the battling techniques displayed by Enid and Rad during their flower duel are reminiscent of Utena's own movements incorporated into her duels.
- Rad's swift lunging flower assault directed at Enid is a charge attack favored by Utena.
- Took a Level in Jerkass: Rad took the advice of his friends to behave like a jerk in his date with Enid. It ended up becoming his core personality.
