Kai and Nya face the Time Twins as they attempt to rewrite history.
Tropes:
- Call-Forward: The Elemental Master of Lightning mentions she's got a honeymoon with an actor, Jay's biological father Cliff Gordon.
- Chekhov's Gun: The Reversal Time Blade, and the fact it got out of the vortex first, as Kai and Nya's parents mentioned last episode. Nya remembers and goes to get it so she can save Wu.
- The Comically Serious: Samurai X playing off Jay's repeated attempts to get them to say who they are, responding every time with a blunt "no".
- Comically Small Bribe: Jay tries bribing Borg into building a time machine, and Samurai X into giving their identity, with a whole tenner.
- Easter Egg: Shots from previous episodes can briefly be seen both times the Iron Doom travels through the Time Vortex. A few of these are moments from Season 6, which is interesting, seeing as those events were undone.
- Fun with Homophones: Kai gets a Tongue Twister trying to explain to Wu they're not just trying to save Past Wu, but him.Kai: Not just you you. Young you, too, Wu. Oh, that's a mouthful.
- Heroic Sacrifice: Wu breaks the time machine, trapping himself and the Time Twins in time.
- It Runs in the Family: In about a minute of screen time, we see where Jay gets his Jayness from listening to the Elemental Master of Lightning, his biological mother, who is just as talkative and unfocused as he is.
- No Name Given: None of the past Elemental Masters are given names. Even when they talk to one another, they only identify themselves by their element.
- Ripple Effect Indicator: When the Time Twins change history, Ninjago City loses all its skyscrapers, and Cyrus Borg's Borgwatch disappears, while Zane looks less robotic. Also, though it goes uncommented upon, the new Samurai X completely disappears.
- Secret Identity Vocal Shift: Kai and Nya impersonate their parents by imitating their voices, which in Kai's case just means lowering his voice a little (since Kai and Ray share a VA).
- The Un-Reveal: Who is the new Samurai X? They refuse to divulge their identity, but there are hints here and there that it's Pixal.
- "What Now?" Ending: The episode ends with Lloyd vowing to find some way to get Master Wu back.
- You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Krux and Acronix turn Raggmunk and Blunk back into snakes to power up the Iron Doom. Then they go and do it to Machia as well.
