Go To

Airdate: March 31, 2015

This episode provides examples of:

  • Absurdly Sharp Blade: Chen describes an Anacondrai sword as the sharpest blade in Ninjago.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: Kai asks Skylor whether it was her idea to get Kai to fall for her or Chen's, causing her to reconsider her role in her father's plans.
  • Bittersweet Ending: The Elemental Masters have their powers restored, the Ninja are fully reunited for the first time since Season 3, and the Anacondrai Cultists are forced into hiding. However, Skylor has been captured and Chen is not down for the count, with plans to complete the spell even without his staff.
  • Continuity Cavalcade: Chen has trophies from the Ninja's past adventures, such as Zane's pink gi, Captain Soto's peg leg, and a piece of the Celestial Clock.
  • Costume Evolution: Cole receives his Jungle robe in this episode, and Zane's Jungle robe (which he's had since the start of the season) is upgraded with shoulder pads.
  • Drunk with Power: The Staff of Elements corrupts Kai with its power, causing him to nearly attack Lloyd.
  • Fake Defector: Kai pretends to defect to Chen's side, but he's just biding his time to steal the Staff of Elements.
  • Hidden Disdain Reveal: It's revealed that Kai has held jealousy over Lloyd being the Green Ninja for a long time.
  • High-Heel–Face Turn: Skylor's feelings for Kai combined with her anger at her father's willingness to risk her life leads to her betrayal of Chen and siding with the Ninja.
  • Karmic Death: Garmadon discusses it, lampshading that after killing the biggest snake in Ninjago it's only fitting that the second-biggest comes to pay him back. He fortunately survives thanks to the Elemental Masters breaking in and crushing the Anacondrai serpent.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: Garmadon grabs Skylor and threatens to harm her if Chen doesn't let them go. Chen calls Garmadon's bluff. He turns out to be right, but his callous disregard of his daughter's life is the final straw for Skylor's Heel–Face Turn.
  • Please Spare Him, My Liege!: Skylor begs Chen to not send Kai to the factory with the other Elemental Masters, claiming he can help them. Chen accurately pinpoints that she's just crushing on him, but complies and lets Kai go.
  • Secret Message Wink: It appears Kai has betrayed his friends and is now helping Chen, but he winks at Garmadon and Nya to let them know that it's all part of a plan.
