  • Film the Hand: Bobby stops Taylor’s cameraman from filming inside the firehouse by doing this.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: While watching Taylor’s puff piece report, Bobby realizes just who drugged the brownies. It was the lady who was hosting the eating contest, she just worried that the station was under too much stress and wanted to do something to ease their minds.

She grows a conscience when it looks like he’s going to jump and calls 9-1-1. However, she did want to use all of the footage, but she got overruled, the firehouse lawyers are scarier than the news’
  • Improvised Weapon: A woman uses a high heel to impale another woman’s cheek at a toddler pageant.
  • Intrepid Reporter: Taylor Kelly is introduced as one. Willing to do anything for a story too advance her career.
  • Mood Whiplash: The actions of Hen, Eddie and Buck while high at the toddler pageant, which include thinking the toddlers were women who had been shrunken, Eddie using his penlight on some balloons, Hen telling Athena that she smells like love are pretty hilarious which quickly changes when Athena arrives back at the 118 station to find Bobby standing on the edge of the roof because he wants to float away with his dead daughter.
  • Mushroom Samba: As a result of eating brownies laced with LSD, the entire unit (except Chimney) is hallucinating. The entire scene is Played for Laughs, but that turns a complete 180 when Bobby says he sees his daughter, telling him to join her in the sky.
  • One Dialogue, Two Conversations: Happen between Maddie and Buck.
    Maddie: He’s so cute.
Buck: Yeah he gets that a lot. Uh, you should meet his kid though.
Maddie: Wait. Chimney has a kid?
Buck: No. I-i thought you meant . . . (Maddie walks off) Chimney?!
  • Only Sane Man: Chimney, who only just missed out getting dosed with LSD because he was the last to arrive at the table and all the laced brownies were all eaten.
  • Popcultural Osmosis Failure: Maddie doesn't get Chimney’s Mission: Impossible Film Series reference when referring to the amount of security she’s had installed into her new house.
  • Social Media Before Reason: When Taylor Kelly’s helicopter is in trouble, many bystanders happily stand around and record the event instead of getting to safety. It takes Athena yelling at them to get them to even move.
  • Tampering with Food and Drink: Brownies left for the firefighters are laced with LSD.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Once again, Chimney doesn't react well when an animal is discovered on a call. He freaks out when he spots an iguana at the Eating Contest call out.
