Recap / 9-1-1: Lone Star S2E7 "Displaced"

Go To

Owen and Tommy have troubles adjusting to their new lives at home. Meanwhile, TK runs into teamwork difficulties as a new paramedic when Nancy refuses to work with him.

Tropes featured in the episode:

  • Downer Beginning: The first call of the episode sees a frozen body of a young Mexican man fall from a plane onto a casket in the middle of a burial. Paul then finds out that he tried to cross the border with a second person, and the 126 immediately head to the airport to find the grounded plane and said person, who is revealed to be his sister. Though Tommy is able to save her life, the sister is devastated to learn about her brother’s death and cries about wanting to go back home.
  • Due to the Dead: TK decides to have an ambulance dedicated to Tim at the end of the episode; Nancy is suitably touched at the gesture.
  • Food Fight: Tommy and Charles’ argument soon turns into this.
  • The Ghost: Gwyn mentions another man she used to be intimate with, Enzo, visited her in Austin some time ago. They broke up before she came down to Austin at the start of the season, but they’re evidently still close. Owen is very put off at learning this.
  • Ice Queen: Nancy is this to TK initially, thinking he’s trying to replace and forget about Tim and show off in front of Tommy.
  • Jerkass Realization: TK has this when Carlos points out he hadn’t included Nancy and Tim in any bonding activities like the rest of the firehouse.
  • One-Night-Stand Pregnancy: Gwyn and Enzo had apparently gotten intimate during the latter’s visit, which re-ignites friction between her and Owen.
  • Platonic Co-Parenting: The main reason Gwyn plans to move back to New York after she confirms that Enzo is her unborn son’s father, as she doesn’t want to leave him without a paternal figure or keep Enzo from knowing about their son despite them not being a couple anymore.
  • When You Coming Home, Mom?: Tommy develops anxiety about Izzy and Evie thinking this about her going back to being a paramedic.
  • Who's Your Daddy?: When discussing her living arrangements with Owen, Gwyn reluctantly reveals that she believes Enzo is her baby’s biological father. She later gets it confirmed via a paternity test.
