Recap / My Little Pony 'n Friends E42: "Baby, It's Cold Outside 2"

Go To

The yeti sets about chasing the heroes, pelting them with icicles and trying to crush them with a huge mass of snow. Galaxy manages to neutralize by teleporting on a mass of snow it's holding aloft and making it crumble on its head, but the heroes are soon afterwards captured by the penguin guards.

In the penguin dungeons, Prince Edgar has gone to visit his frozen friend, who is being held in a room filled with other frozen woodland creatures. The guards arrive to escort the ponies and Megan to a jail cell, and Edgar ducks behind a statue to avoid them. Once the guards leave, Galaxy lights up her horn, using the heat it gives off to melt the bars. Edgar appears and introduces himself and his plight. The guards come back, but Edgar bluffs them into thinking that the king has ordered the prisoners passed to Edgar's authority. Having avoided recapture, the heroes all head to Charlatan's throne room, passing a large number of traps on the way.

Megan, Prince Edgar and the ponies try to talk King Charlatan down. It doesn't work, and he shoots them with his freeze beams. They all dodge out of the way, except for Edgar, who's too slow to run and gets turned into a statue of ice. The guards rush in, but are too shocked by the sight of Prince Edgar's fate to arrest the ponies even when the king orders them to. King Charlatan, visibly shaken, tries to rationalize what just happened, but doesn't do much to convince the others and isn't really convincing himself either. Megan initiates a song, and she and the ponies are able to push Charlatan into realizing how evil his actions have been. He sinks into grief over what he did to his son, and explains that even breaking the ice machine he used wouldn't be enough to restore him. His tears of grief, however, seem to do the trick and free Edgar from the ice. Galaxy decides that destroying the machine is probably still a good idea, and the magic thereby released quickly restores the world to its normal climate.
