"All Hands on Deck! Class 1-A" is the first episode of My Hero Academia's fifth season.
In the aftermath of Endeavor's fight against the Nomu, Class 1-A has been called to Ground Beta for a training exercise. Their task is threefold — rescue the hapless bystander played by Mirio, put out the fires, and defeat the villains played by Nejire and Tamaki.
Tropes in this episode:
- Distressed Dude: Invoked. Mirio has taken it on himself to be the bystander who needs to be rescued for the class training. He cheerfully floats down the river while Asui and Mineta go after him.
- Mundane Utility: Kaminari uses his Shock and Awe powers to hotwire a car.
- Recap Episode: Subverted. More of a Filler Episode but it makes its usual role call for Class 1-A and their Quirks.
- The Stinger: After 1-A's successful training exercise, the episode cuts to a flashback with Endeavor and Hawks apparently encountering Dabi in the aftermath of High End Nomu's defeat. It is then followed by a scene of Dabi meeting with Hawks privately.
- Sword over Head: Near the end of the training exercise, the compassionate and kind Midoriya has Tamaki (who is playing a villain) dead to rights, but refuses to strike the "final" blow because he doesn't need to. In contrast, his foil Bakugo charges right in with a Dynamic Entry and doesn't hesitate to bomb Tamaki to kingdom come at point blank.
