- Murder by Mistake: The killer laced the sweatshop's steam iron with poison to kill a worker trying to unionize. Unfortunately, the intended victim was friends with the eventual victim and traded shifts so he could secretly rendezvous with his lover.
- Star-Crossed Lovers: The Victim of the Week was in love with his employer's daughter and the two wanted to marry, but her domineering father would not allow them to be together and instead pushed his daughter into an engagement with a wealthy, older doctor who would help him further his business interests.
- Suicide by Cop / Vigilante Execution: The daughter's fiancé commits the Suicide by State variation when he makes sure he will be arrested and executed. He shoots his fiancée's father in front of Detective Murdoch, Inspector Brackenreid and a couple of constables, which means he gets the noose. He did it because his future father-in-law murdered an employee who was also his daughter's lover. He loved the girl more than anything and he wanted her to be free from both of them — her evil father and himself.
