The episode starts as Clay and Orel leave for the camping trip. Bloberta, left behind, tries to masturbate with a power tool, only to feel nothing. She has a small collection of power tools in increasing size she used as dildos, and hidden among them is a photo album of her and Coach Stopframe, confirming that Shapey is indeed Stopframe's son. When Block screeches at her, she realizes they accidentally switched children with the Posabules, and goes to get Shapey. When Block is shown to prefer Bloberta, though, Poppet Posabule slams the door on them, effectively abandoning her son.

Bloberta goes to Coach Stopframe in hopes of restarting their relationship, but finds out to her dismay that he only slept with her to get closer to Clay. She then hits on Rev. Putty, but Putty climaxes in his pants and demands that Bloberta leave. She then goes to the hardware store and buys a jackhammer, intending to use it as her new sex toy. However, she ends up mutilating herself and goes to Dr. Potterswheel, who offers her painkillers. The painkillers numb the pain enough to make it pleasurable, but she mutilates herself further...which it turns out is what Dr. Potterswheel wanted, as he gets aroused by gore. After going home with more painkillers and a handkerchief of his that she sneaked away, Bloberta ends up orgasming merely at the thought of Dr. Potterswheel. However, when she comes to him with that revelation, she finds that he only cared about the mutilation and not her, coldly rejecting her. He's interrupted by a call from Clay that Orel needs to be brought in because he was shot.

A drunken Clay stumbles from his study to be confused by the fact that there's now TWO younger children, before going upstairs. He overhears Orel asking Bloberta why she married him. After Bloberta answers, she leaves Orel's room and starts to sob, before noticing Clay and stopping, heading to her room. Clay follows her in and sits on his bed, looking a bit remorseful, before lying on the bed. The two of them stare at the ceiling as they contemplate their dead marriage.

Tropes present:

  • Book Ends: The episode opens with "No Children" by the Mountain Goats playing as Clay and Bloberta lie in bed in the morning. In the end, which takes place after Clay and Orel's hunting trip, the married couple lies down in bed once again and stares at the ceiling while the last bit of "No Children" plays.
  • The Bus Came Back: After Orel and Clay leave, Bloberta finally realizes that Shapey was switched with Block, and she goes to the Posabule house to retrieve him.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Bloberta, showing her sexual frustration and failing marriage.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Dr. Potterswheel becomes so aroused by Bloberta's words in his office that he nearly climaxes right then and there. Given the nature of the show, it's not played for laughs, as Bloberta is describing the terrible pain she's in after mutilating her vagina with a jackhammer.
  • Downer Ending: There is no real resolution, other than Dr. Potterswheel losing interest in treating Bloberta. The episode ends with her and Clay lying miserably in their separate beds.
  • Groin Attack: Yes, it's here because, to feel anything, Bloberta inflicts this on herself. No, it ain't played for laughs.
  • Hope Spot: Towards the end of the episode, Bloberta is able to climax not using power tools, but simply the memory of Dr. Potterswheel, who has been treating her with kindness and sexual interest. She eagerly returns to him in the hope of starting a relationship...only to discover that he was only interested in her wounds, not her, as he has a gore fetish.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink: After Bloberta's failed attempts to restart her relationship with Coach Stopframe, she grabs the martini he was drinking and downs it in one gulp.
  • Kick the Dog: When Bloberta tries to rekindle her relationship with Coach Stopframe, he coldly refuses, flat-out admitting that the only reason he slept with her in the first place was so he could get closer to Clay.
Coach Stopframe: I'm sorry. Oh wait, no I'm not. I don't care!
  • Late to the Punchline: It's been months since Shapey and Block swapped places, yet Bloberta only realizes it when she looks directly at a photo of Shapey and compares it to Block, who's standing right in front of her.
  • Mama Bear: Downplayed with Bloberta. While she doesn't maim Clay over it like most examples would, her disappointment over being spurned by the doctor is apparently immediately forgotten when she hears that Orel has been shot. Her snapping gaze is the most focused she's been all episode, soon finding a poster advertising fatty foods as healthy. She is next shown presenting such food to her injured son to help him heal up, crediting Dr. Potterswheel as the one who gave the order.
  • Parental Abandonment: Poppet Posabule leaves Block in Bloberta's care when she sees the boy cling to her instead of running back into his own house. Whether it's a case of envy or simply her being sick of raising Block is never stated.
  • The Reveal: After being repeatedly hinted throughout the series, this episode confirms that Shapey is indeed the result of an affair between Bloberta and Coach Stopframe.
  • Rule of Three: Bloberta seeks out three different men in the hopes of finding a relationship: Coach Stopframe, Reverend Putty, and Dr. Potterswheel.
  • Self-Harm: It's probably sayin' something about Bloberta's married life if "playing" with power tools is better than feeling numb.
  • Sexless Marriage: Clay and Bloberta once again, but this time it is painfully highlighted by Bloberta's inability to find sexual pleasure.
  • Sleeping Single: Clay and Bloberta with their privacy screen and all.
  • Symbolic Distance: Combining this with Separated by the Wall, Clay and Bloberta, as seen on the page image, are on two separate beds lookig miserable, symbolising their absolutely horrendous relationship.
  • Sympathetic Adulterer: Yes, Bloberta is trying to cheat on Clay, but he ventured into absolute unlikeable territory in the "Nature" two-parter, making the viewers more sympathetic to her. Furthermore, Bloberta's attempts at seduction are pathetic, and she's been saddled with another out-of-control child since Poppet Posabule dumped Block at her feet and slammed the door. Add in the factor of the Sexless Marriage described above and you might find yourself rooting for Bloberta to find someone who can give her even an ounce of pleasure or at least compassion.
