The Worm Turns: Grandpa Nat's spooky story about giant ice worms has Molly, Tooey and Trini questioning whether they might just be real.
"The Worm Turns" contains the following tropes:
- Big Blackout: A blackout happens in Qyah. Because of a spooky story Grandpa Nat told them, the kids think that giant ice worms ate the power lines.
- Bland-Name Product: Molly, Tooey, and Trini look up if giant ice worms are real on a fact-checking site called Snoops.com, an obvious parody of Snopes.com. The giant ice worms later turn out to be a hoax.
- Fictional Video Game: When the kids are looking up pictures of giant ice worms, they find a picture from an in-universe video game called Boltronoman vs. Ice Freak.
- Ghost Story: The plot gets kicked off by Molly and Trini asking Grandpa Nat to tell them a scary story.
- Shout-Out: Boltronoman
◊ looks nearly identical to the titular Super Robot of Mazinger Z. - Troll: Grandpa Nat enjoys scaring the kids with a made up story about giant ice worms. When Molly informs him that she learned at the library that giant ice worms don't exist, Nat lowers his voice and replies, "Not anymore."
Little Dog Lost: Tooey's sled dog Anka goes missing in the woods, and Tooey worries she will never find her way home.
"Little Dog Lost" contains the following tropes:
- All Animals Are Dogs: Anka meets an arctic fox, which acts much more like a small domestic dog than an actual fox.
- Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Anka is very easily distracted, chasing a bird off into the woods after being told to stay.
- Caught the Heart on His Sleeve: Molly grabs Tooey's arm and runs with him to Auntie Midge's house.
- Failures on Ice: Anka ends up scrambling across a frozen pond.
- If I Had a Nickel...: Kenji remarks that if he had a nickel for every dog that took off then found its way home, he'd have a lot of nickels.
- Shout-Out:
- The episode title is a reference to an episode of The Twilight Zone (1959), "Little Girl Lost".
- Tooey has what appears to be a Power Rangers action figure in his room. (It seems to be the Red Ranger from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers).
- Trail of Bread Crumbs: Molly tries leaving a trail of dog biscuits for Anka to follow, but a fox gets to them first.
- Tropey, Come Home: The plot revolves around Tooey's youngest sled dog finding her way home.
