Bird in Hand: Molly and Tooey think they've discovered a ghost, until they realize it's a bird stuck in a dryer vent.
"Bird in Hand" contains the following tropes:
- Deadpan Snarker: Tooey's response to Molly's idea to go ghost hunting.
Molly: You know, if there is a ghost in that old dryer, we should take a picture!
Tooey: Or lock up the building and move to Fairbanks.
- Nature Tinkling: Molly and Tooey have a Potty Emergency. As Walter is fixing the bathroom and there's another bathroom with a mysterious sound in it, Molly is forced to go in the spider-infested outhouse while Tooey resorts to peeing in the woods.
- Ominous Owl: Subverted. The scary sound coming from the dryer turns out to just be a boreal owl. A very cute boreal owl.
- Potty Emergency: Molly and Tooey suffer one while Walter is fixing the bathroom. While there's another one available, they're too scared by a mysterious sound (actually an owl) coming from it, forcing Molly to use the (spider-infested) outhouse and Tooey to go in the woods.
- Spiders Are Scary: Molly does not want to use the outhouse if she can all avoid it, since it's so full of spiders.
Bye-Bye Birdie: Molly and Trini go with Nina to the Kenai National Park to see the puffins.
"Bye-Bye Birdie" contains the following tropes:
- Early-Bird Cameo: Atsaq makes a cameo in this episode, but she is not properly introduced until later in the season.
- Ridiculously Cute Critter: Pufflings, at least as far as Molly and Trini are concerned.
- Shout-Out: The episode title is a reference to Bye Bye Birdie.
- Squee: Molly and Trini can't stop doing this when first meeting the puffins. Nina finally has to put a limit on the amount of squeeing permitted.
- Suicidal Lemmings: Molly and Trini initially assume this is what the pufflings are doing. Turns out they're simply using the cliff to launch themselves for their first flight.
