Air date: February 29, 2020 (CBC); June 30, 2020 (PBS)note

"King Run": It's salmon season! First order of business at fish camp: help Grandpa Nat fix the broken fish wheel. But when the fish wheel goes missing, Molly and Tooey have a bigger problem to solve.

"King Run" contains the following tropes:

  • 2D Visuals, 3D Effects: The fish wheel is animated in CG.
  • Chekhov's Classroom: Grandpa Nat teaches Molly and Tooey how to prepare spruce poles to fix the fish wheel. After the wheel is damaged in a storm, Molly and Tooey immediately get to work preparing more spruce poles, cutting the repair time in half.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: An otter shows up to wait for the fish wheel to produce some free food. And also to taunt Suki. Later on, the same otter leads Suki and the kids to the fish wheel after it's washed downstream by a storm.
  • Fishing Episode
  • Food Porn: For a PBS animation dish, the prepared salmon looks absolutely mouthwatering.
  • Gratuitous Japanese: Kenji says good night to Tooey in Japanese.

"Native Youth Olympics": Molly is determined to put together a team and win a gold medal for the Native Youth Olympics.

"Native Youth Olympics" contains the following tropes:

  • Chekhov's Skill: Molly can easily shimmy across a slick, mossy log. Later on, she uses that skill to win gold in the greased pole walking event.
  • Imagine Spot: Molly closes her eyes to better visualize the history of the NYO as her grandpa reads to her.
  • Non-Indicative Name: The Native Youth Olympics teach traditional Alaska Native skills, but aren't exclusive to Native youth. Non-Native kids are encouraged to compete as well.
  • Wax On, Wax Off: The events at the Native Youth Olympics were designed to help kids develop practical skills used for hunting and survival. Molly only learns this when Grandpa Nat reads to her about the history of the NYO.
